Manny Pacquiao, Juan Diaz or Michael Katsidis For Hatton

Golden Boy only wants Hatton to fight smaller guys and a feather puncher - I'm guessing the Lazcano fight didn't impress them much about how much Ricky's got left.
That being said, Hatton vs. Katsidis could be a fantastic TV bout. -

I guess you'd rather see him slaughtered by much bigger guys like Cotto or Margarito? Katsidis 5 pounds south and Pacquiao, 148 fight night and same height as Hatton but much longer reach, soooooo much smaller.Last edited by Jim Jeffries; 05-26-2008, 04:49 PM.Comment

All of the fights would make for good tv. I rather see Hatton against Diaz or Katsidis than Pacquiao, but whatever.Comment

not necessarily - why have to go up to 147 or down to 130/135 for opponents? There are legit opponents at 140 to fight... what I was saying was, looks like GBP thinks Hatton is shot... it wasn't long ago DLH himself was going to fight him and obviously they thought he would give Floyd a fight... and that wasn't too long agoComment

I don't mind Hatton fighting guys moving up from 135... it's clear that Hatton cannot hang with 147 lbers. The list is headed by Manny Pacquiao, the popular three-weight world champion from the Philippines, and features two former world lightweight champions, Juan Diaz, of the US, and Michael Katsidis, from Australia. He's a jr. welterweight. There are some decent names at 140, at least as valid as fighting Katsidis - Kendall Holt, Ricardo Torres, Devon Alexander, Timothy Bradley... or fellow countryman Gavin Rees. None of those guys are under contract with Golden Boy, though, I guess...
I think Hatton losing to Diaz or Pac hurts his overall reputation though...Comment
