Undefeated knocking solid opposition yet there are some people that think he was past it cause he lost to Montel after and Thadzi.

I don't think he could have been closer to his absolute prime.

you watch James Toney might just win the heavyweight belt yet
I would like to see him fight David Haye. I think David Haye's
style is made for Toney. It will catapult Toney back to the # 1
        position against Klitschko ...

No sir. Toney was in his prime and absolute best. Toney was very active, fighting several times that year. Toney is/was a streaky boxer meaning sometimes he was electric and others times you would question his abilities.

I just recently re-watched that fight and the roy jones that showed up for that fight could not be beat. I cant think of any boxer in the history of the sport that could of handled him that night. Some of those combos where he was off balanced and still stringing together 3-4 punch combos were amazing. The annoucer said it best "there are only two people in the ring, roy jones and the ref and toney still cant find roy...thats how quick roy is moving".

I don't see anybody beating Roy Jones in that fight. And Iceman had a good story about Roy Jones doing his road work the day after the Toney fight. Crazy!

Absolutely. Unfortunately he was very, very weight drained and got talked into the match by Jackie Kallen. So no, he wasn't past it, but he was certainly no where near his best that evening.

Yeah ima go to youtube and rewatch it again. Toney would miss, roy would dodge and be off balance and string a 3 punch combo with one hand. I havent seen flyweights string punches together as fast as roy did.

James Toney can only blame himself for that loss. I have not seen many champions gasp for air like Toney did in that fight after throwing so few punches throughout the bout.

Roy Jones did a great job and is a stylistical nightmare for Toney, weight-drained or not. That one-sided loss along with the following controversial decision losses broke James Toney and it took a lot of time before he got himself back in form against (vs Jirov in 2003), almost 10 years!
