When Hatton's lace was untied it disadvanteged him not laz. Hatton attacked him back and was on the verge of a "Knockout" if you know what I mean. I'm not saying he cwould have knocked him out, but Laz was hurt, he wobbled across the ring I think or maybe that was another round.

That was the eighth. Ricky looked like ****e in the tenth but dominated the last two.

I tell you what, when he got brained with that left hook in the tenth I bet he thought "****, not again!"

If anything choosing to stop the fight when Lazcano had a bit of momentum to give a warning was more damning than the shoelace thing.

The rules are that if a fighter loses a mouthpiece, his shoelaces are untied, his glove tape is loose or (god forbid) his hair goes awry (!) the referee will wait for a break in the action before allowing the corner to rectify the situation. Ricky's shoelace was obviously untied and the action was already stopped so it was the best natural time to fix it. If you rewatch the tenth Ricky appears to stumble as he walks to the corner, I think that's when he notices the lace.

If you really think something was fishy it was the break in the action, though both guys were warned about evenly for various transgressions several times before the tenth round.

I wonder how many people who are kicking off about this though are the same people who considered that pretending to be hit low to get a breather is a "boxing lesson".

There WAS a break in the action. Lazcano was holding and pushed Hattons head down...

          That's my point...

I like the topic title: "A Controversial Moment Overlooked." If by "overlooked" you mean "mentioned by everyone" then you could be close.

Yeah bad memory, sorry I'd have to watch it again to comment.

Was that when Ricky grabbed and then he seemed to be rugby tackling him?

just watched the fight and the referreeing was very biased towards Hatton. Many many times Hatton seemed to dictate when the two fighters would be broken by eye contact with the referee. When Hatton was hurt bath times the referee made it a point to give lengthy warnings. The 2nd time he seperated the fighters very quickly and although it was within the rules to have his shoelaces tied that break was initiated to the advantage of Hatton. It was obvious the ref was biased towards Hatton not that that would have changed the end result.

When one guy is being held, low blowed, hit behind the head or headbutted it's normal for them to look at the referee. The fighter is making it clear to the referee that he's the one being fouled, happens all the time and there's really nothing su****ious about it.

Besides which I thought that Ricky "lol the hugman lol" Hatton would be disadvantaged by breaks, so your theory is in complete contradiction to Hatton's reputation.

The whole situation was very shady regardless of how hurt Hatton was. You cant say he was recovered just as much as you cant say he was on his way to getting KO'ed.

I've seen shadier moments in fights. People see what they want to to a degree. On my second watching of the fight Hatton and Lazcano get warned more or less equally for various transgressions. While I think that the warning in the tenth was unwarranted the referee could easily have interpreted it as Lazcano pushing Hatton's head down, and given the repeated warnings for holding was justified in taking a point, which he didn't do. Instead he gave a warning. Then the shoelace was noticed and the referee could not restart the fight without remedying that situation.
