    ..GREAT At Their WEIGHT...

This is pretty simple. We'll use 'The Ring' champions (or the guy in the number one spot if the title is vacant) and it works like this..

Take the champion or the number one spot, in any/every division. Then, you take (atleast) TWO former GREATS from the same weight class. One that would beat them, and one that they could be (if that applies).
You can explain why, or why not, give more than one answer. Do all the divisions, or just one or a few.

Here are the title holders, or the guy in the one spot.

    HEAVYWEIGHT (number one contender):
    Wladimir Klitschko
    CRUISERWEIGHT (champion):
    David Haye
    LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT (champion):
    Joe Calzaghe
    SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT (champion):
    Joe Calzaghe
    MIDDLEWEIGHT (champion):
    Kelly Pavlik
    JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT (number one contender):
    Vernon Forrest
    WELTERWEIGHT (champion):
    Floyd Mayweather
    JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT (champion):
    Ricky Hatton
    LIGHTWEIGHT (champion):
    Joel Casamayor
    JUNIOR LIGHTWEIGHT (champion):
    Manny Pacquiao
    FEATHERWEIGHT (number one contender):
    Robert Guerrero
    JUNIOR FEATHERWEIGHT (champion):
    Israel Vazquez
    BANTAMWEIGHT (number one contender):
    Hozumi Hasagawi
    JUNIOR BANTAMWEIGHT (number one contender):
    Cristian Mijares
    FLYWEIGHT (number one contender):
    Nonito Donaire
    JUNIOR FLYWEIGHT (champion):
    Ivan Calderon
    STRAWWEIGHT (number one contender):
    Yutaka Niida

And now, the pound for pound debate.
    FLOYD MAYWEATHER

Take some of the other guys that were at the top of the p4p totum pole, and compare them to Floyd, P4P. Meaning, they could be at any weight. Who could he beat, who could beat him.

Let's see what you guys got.

i dont know most of this champs couldnt beat any former "greats" cuz they are champs not "greats"
from the list i think "greats" would be israel, manny, casamayor, forrest, calzaghe and klitchsko
mayweather is not great at welterweight cuz hes only fought 2 true welters; at lightweight he would qualify as great
but those champions that could trouble "greats" would be pavlik and haye just because of their punching power

and you dios are encouraging this guy to keep ruining threads.

I'll take Joe C at SMW cos it's an easy red to start. NOTE not the best analysis ever I'll admit...

He'd beat NIGEL BENN - younger calzaghe would KO him in a 4 round war - Benn hit harder but was susceptible to a punch himself. Benn had more orthodox technique but Calzaghe would be too smart and beat him to the punch. Older calzaghe would outwork benn, smother his punches and take a decent UD

He'd lose to ROY JONES JNR - RJJ would potshot calzaghe and if he caught him good later on he'd finish him. Jones had better hand and footspeed. I think older Joe would land on him but it wouldn't be often enough.

              Wolfman,

Do you think that Calzaghe would beat a younger Hopkins? Joe beat a 43 year old man.

I'm not sure how it would go tbh. I think that joe would cause trouble for hopkins with his workrate and handspeed, but Hopkins may have put a better effort in than the nonsense he showed 6 weeks ago.

It would definitely go all 12, and I think it would be closer than the fight they just had. I'd probably put a few quid on the draw.

What do you say to your man in this thread who thinks Hopkins won Dios?

I'm not a huge mayweather fan but couldn't we have mayweather number 1 at JWW and LMW aswell as WW?

Hopkins got a draw at best.

I had it 8-4 or 7-5 Calzaghe. Add in the two point round for BHop, and he could maybe get the draw. But the right answer is the Calzaghe close decision.

A younger Hopkins wouldn't have faded, or had to fight so conservatively when he was clearly hurting Cal with right hands.
