Say what you want about Urango and Maussa but they were both world champions at the time. Witter, Malignaggi and co were not. So why would Hatton fight them instead?

    (1) Castillo wasnt ranked in any P4P list(Maybe Hatton's dad list), Castillo did fight for ages because he was ban over the weight issue and fought only once at 140 against Herman Ngoooooo in a fight he lost but was given the nod.

    (2) The reason i list urango and maussa was because of all the same excuse about How Witter was a paper champion ---so what make urango and maussa then(Toilet paper champion)?

They knew Witter was a very dangerous domestic opponent and they knew they had to stir clear of him and they did.
Pretty sure Ive had this discussion with you but Hatton demanded the Witter fight. He signed a contract stipulating the fight in 2000.

Bums after bums? Who was Witter fighting exactly?

Most of the guys Hatton was fighting leading up to Tszyu were on a higher level than Witter at the time - Tackie, Phillips, Oliveria, Stewart.

Witter was going through the Proper route at the time>>British 140 champion>>commonwealth>>European, While Hatton was on the WBU tour of bums, Hatton never fought anyone ranked before he got his chance at tsyzu.

Tackie was a Nobody, Philips was 39 yrs old, olivera was 37 yrs old and please dont put Mike" All joke " stewart on that disgraceful list.

Like i said before i dont want to hear anyone of you guys that defend Hatton decision to avoid Witter complain about Mayweather or How Amir Khan isnt fighting so so and so because i would point out your Hatton hypocrisy.

          (1) He was ranked in the top 10 by the Ring Magazine. One place below Hatton I believe. And ranked as Hatton's number 1 challenger at 140. The Ring wrote an article commending Hatton for giving the fans the fight they wanted and by fighting his best available challenger.

Castillo has fought and KOed guys at Welter before. He fought a tune-up against Ngoudjo (who is far from a slouch as proven by his recent outings) and wasnt motivated. How many times have we seen lacklustre tune ups. Castillo still won the fight.

          (2) At least Maussa beat the champion for the belt by knocking Vivian Harris out a long time before Witter did it. Witter won a vacant title.

The proper route? Gimmie a break.

Tackie had been in the ring with the top two in the division, Tszyu and Mitchell immediately prior to fighting Hatton and took them both the distance. Operating on a much higher level than Witter.

Phillips was the only man to beat Tszyu, former world champion. Been in with Mitchell just prior to Hatton, been in with some top fighters. Ranked much higher than Witter.

Stewart was an eliminator for the world title. So again, far more meaningful than fighting Witter. Oliveria was also above Witter.

I dont get why you're mentioning their ages when Witter is 35 years old himself. I suppose you'd be the type of person to suggest he was shot after Hatton took care of him too!

Castillo was ranked by the Ring in the top 10 P4P fighters. This was largely down to his fights with Corrales including the dominating stoppage in the rematch which was his best ever performance - less than 2 years before fighting Hatton. He fought Ngoudjo 5 months before Hatton....
