HBO isn't doing anything, golden boy promotions are giving him the shot, and how could you not like him, at 24 he unified the division, had one more title to go before complete unification, he has done more at 24 than most boxers have at 34.
Does anyone hate Juan Diaz?

Well I guess we just look at it differently. Someone like Juan Diaz has to work extra hard because he doesn't have dangerous power to bail him out of fights he is losing. He also isn't gifted with the slickness or speed of a Floyd Mayweather. That means he has to work harder than his opponents, and its only failed him once in his career so far. Like most fans I enjoy one punch power that can turn a fight around instantly. But I also admire a self made fighter with the conditioning and workrate to overcome his limitations like Juan Diaz.Comment

I don't even know what that statement means. Juan Diaz isn't known as a power puncher. He earns KO's by breaking his opponents down over time. I don't know how you can't like him. He comes forward, fights constantly, his connect percentage is somewhere in the top 5 best in boxing and he's a likeable guy. I'm having trouble trying to understand your reasoning here.Comment

its impossible to hate on juan diaz the guy has no power but he goes for the knockout on every fight
imo he could easily use his reach and get a decision win but he has mexican blood and fights like a mexicanComment

I dont know how a fan of Juan Manuel a true warrior and a man of power that can be feared by all could support light hitting juan. Juan needs to hit the gym at UTEP or wherever he goes and do some sit-ups.I don't even know what that statement means. Juan Diaz isn't known as a power puncher. I personally don't like watching him fight, never have.
I remember people were saying that he was some can't miss future star, why because he was a good kid? Ray Leonard was a star, he mixed personality with fighting real guys.
When people were talking about how great he was for make Julio Diaz and Freitas quit, it made me sick. Those guys quitting was an indictment against Juan Diaz for fighting guys at the end of the road who had quitting on the brain. Do people forget that Julio Diaz won his belt when Jesus Chavez broke his knee and Freitas was more or less retired and came out of retirement for a payday? Or is that inconsequential.
At the end of the day, it was no great surprise that Juan Diaz lost to Campbell. Campbell was the first mandatory he faced, not some hand-picked nobody like Angulo or Randy Suico.
The boxing hype machine told everyone that he was some great fighter and a lot of people bought into it. Money in their pocket.Comment

I don't see how you could hate a 24 year old that, while going to college, was able to beat 3 world title holders at 135, throws 100 punches a round, and fights his heart out every night.Comment

I promise he will beat Nate Campbell in a rematch. He overlooked him and got punished for it. It happens, Campbell capitalized on it and was rewarded heavily. From a conspiracist standpoint he was designed to lose with all the **** that went down there with Don King, his manager, trainer, lawyer. But thats neither here nor there. He will be fine and champ again in the futureComment

Who cares that he's going to college? I know a million people in college. He's this generation's Darrin Van Horn, only with a better matchmaker.Comment
