Gomez wasn't the best choice, I just hope he steps up prettty noticeably in the next 3 or 4 fights. Doesn't even have to be Campbell. Could be a Katsidis-type. Otherwise the ready talks have to START dying down.
Agreed. Katsidis would be my first choice of opponent for Khan. It would be a great fight, and I could see a brutal stoppage either way happening, which is better than the 'sure things' we're routinely served up eh?

If he's not ready for Katsidis then who on earth would he be ready for?

Yeah. However, Katsidis is scheduled to fight Chavez on the undercard of Casamayor/Diaz is far as I know. Or, atleast on the same day. Nonetheless, a fight between Khan/Raheem or Julio Diaz would be a nice step in the right direction. Santa Cruz would be risky, but interesting nonetheless.

He's really talented but Warrem is totally protecting him, I can't wait to see him fight a top opponent.

For one, you can have a weak chin and still do fairly well in this sport. And second of all, it doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down, as long as you're winning fights.

The OTHER major criticism of Amir's is the fighters he'd fought, and how fast/slow he's being moved. People demand him to step up, ALREADY. What they fail to realize, are things like this.....

At 17 fights, in terms of the overall record of his opponents at the time of fighting him, he stacks up pretty well against a lot of fighters.

          Over Records: (At 17 fights)
          Amir Khan: 288-118-17
          Julio Cesar Chavez: 18-39-3
          Ricky Hatton: 173-291-42
          Naseem Hamed: 303-251-46
          Floyd Mayweather Jr.: 213-106-14

Now, a lot of things stand out to me when I look at that list. For one, Hatton and Chavez (people who have a brawling style out of the list) started out fighting bums, and had a losing body of work up to 17 fights. I also notice Khan's 'opponents' best resemble Floyd Mayweathers, than anyone else on that list.

This isn't to say that Hatton is as good at Chavez, I just noticed it. It's also not to say Khan will become as good as Mayweather, I just noticed it. My point is that he's not being moved at slower of a pace than the majority of fighters. He just happens to get the bigger push that most fighters wish for.

I know it has a lot to do with the fact that people will hate ANYTHING/ANYONE that someone tries to jam down their throats. The problem is that you should hate the pusher, not who's getting pushed.

Also, what that list doesn't show you is that he stopped fighting fighters with losing records after his fourth fight.

          Mayweather? Nineth.

          Hatton? Fourteenth.

          Hamed? Tenth.

Chavez? At 17 fights, was still fighting straight out bums. Though, at twelve fights, he stopped fighting people with losing records, they also didn't have winning records. 13 was sitting at 5-1-0. 14, 15, 16, and 17 were all making 'debuts'.

Does this tell you they had the same level of fighters? No, it doesn't. But none of these fighters was really in there with a GREAT champion by this point. And rightfully so. Expect Mayweather, I doubt any were ready. And including Mayweather, none were deserving.

Does this tell you how good the kid is going to be? Absolutely not. Maybe his chin really is horrible. Maybe not. My point is, from what he's done and how he compares so far, it's still too early to judge him the way a lot of his 'haters' seem to do.
Ok well Khan Got Knocked down 12 times in the AMs.. so maybe his chin is all right.. but he cant take a punch..
It's not a Myth that guy can be put down...

Now as for people having expectaions about Khan.. Well he has 2 DVD's out.. an Auto-Biography.. and I hear a Video game is in the works..

SO if you are a Star.. then be a star.. and Fight the best.. otherwise dont sell yourself too fast..

people haven't put too high expectaions on Khan.. Team Khan has put the unfair pressure on him..

That's my point. People put that blame on him. This is a business. People will milk you for all they can. It comes with the sport. He's boxing, he's the boxer. And so far, he's lived up to what he can do. Yet, people still blame him for the push as if he should turn it and the money down.

'No thanks. I'd rather languish around and make money later in my career when it might not be there for me.'

He can be knocked down, no doubt about it. So could Robinson, so can Calzaghe, so can Trinidad and De La Hoya. Whitaker, Pacquiao. They all can be. They all did well. But I get what you were saying, I was just stressing the point.

And you're right, he should start fighting the best.

I hear you.. but it's not people's fault.. he is being hyped.. and people love Hype.. and they get upset when the Hype doesn't match the product..

I've no doubt that Khan will beat Most fighters he ever faces in his life. He is just too good.. and if his Chin is weak.. he could adopt a Wlad Klitschko style and still win (even if it's boring) Because his offensive arsenal is just that elite..

Most def. The hype can be irritating, as it can be with anyone. But so far, I'm not too mad about it because he is winning and he has atleast the prospect of a big fight coming up with Campbell.

The Diaz', Raheem, even Freitas (retired or not) would be a good name. The winner of Chavez/Katsidis is something to think about. But, it needs to happen within his next couple of fights to actually justify this hype. Otherwise, even though it wouldn't, I WANT the hype to stop for a while.

At this point however, I have no problem with the hype. Maybe because I live in the U.S. and don't deal with it face-to-face. Lol. Regardless, I still like the kid and I hope/think he'll do well.
