After Roy Jones, this is what he has lined up:

      Glen Johnson (40)
      Evander Holyfield (45)
      Pernell Whitaker (44)
      Tommy Hearns (49)

I think he can win them all and retire as ATG imo

Calzaghe close in handspeed to Roy in their primes? Is that a joke?

Also, their fight being close in their primes? Another big joke, right? I wouldn't give Calzaghe a chance of beating James Toney in their primes -- a close fight with RJJ? Please.

All this "big joke" and "I wouldn't give Calzaghe a chance" talk is too extreme. Of course Roy's hands were faster, but all through Calzaghe's career his handspeed has been the single thing that obviously stood out in his technique. Placing it "close" to Roy's is hardly an unreasonable, outlandish statement that illustrates zero knowledge of boxing. Its perfectly reasonable. Just because Roy was excellent, that doesn't mean nobody else can be very good. It would be plain wrong to say Calzaghe's speed was the "same" as Roy's, and then you'd be closer to being right, but "close" is a perfectly acceptable assessment.

As for "no chance of beating Toney", its the same thing again. Of course Calzaghe would have a "chance". Toney is not insurmountable God of boxing, and when your talking about Joe Calzaghe you're talking about probably the best SMW of the last ten years, currently a p4p guy and a two weight champ. Nothing could be more ignorant than not even giving him a "chance" against Toney.

A little moderation goes a long way.

you and I both know that Roy runs a big risk in fighting calzaghe
I would seriously fear for his health if he chose to sign a contract with Joe

I expect he'll live, but yes, I do think the possibility of him getting a beating is there.

i know this is boxing but come on, putting Roy in the ring with Joe would be just as dangerous as putting Roy on a straitjacket and ask him to fight a gorilla in a locked cage! you telling me that fight is not dangerous?!
