In the case of Floyd and Oscar I don't see how anyone can deny that Mayweather will be enduringly regarded as p4p the best of his era (if he doesn't screw up somehow). Which to me is exactly what a legacy is. In the future when they talk of the 'greatest fighter' of our current era they will be talking about Mayweather, not Oscar.
a lot of votes are due 2 da bias of ppl here against mayweather n everything regardin da hate for floyd not fightin cotto just yet

in about 10 or 20 years time boxing historians will view mayweather as a greater fighter with a greater legacy

i'd say so......if maywether would of fought,

whitaker around (95,96,97) like oscar did
          mosley (around 98,99) undefeated coming-up from 140lbs
trinidad ( around 98,99 prime undefeated)

          maybe 3 big L

Yes because fighting an old Whitaker is tough.

sorry, but I say a big no way to that nonsense. Not sure how you could see Trinidad beating Floyd. Same goes for Whitaker. Whitaker is Mayweather with less offense and more defense so I say Mayweather takes that one. I could see Mosley maybe beating Floyd. Maybe.

you do bring a point but one of those losses is floyd himself the others are Bernard Hopkins......a prime 34-0 at 147 Shane Mosley (twice).....and a prime 35-0 at 147 Felix Trinidad....do i think that either shane or felix coulda beat floyd....definitely....they'd have a hell of a chance

but your question is at this time.....and id have to say dlh

                  fishnet lost his biggest fights

also got gift decisions against sturm, whitaker and quartey

fought shot fighters like JCC and then fought them again.

has lost 5 times, and will be 6 soon

fought fighters after tito destroyed them e.g his best win is fernando vargas

if they both retired today time will tell u who has the better legacy n it wont be oscar
look imma floyd fan all day but to keep it real....your bashing de la hoya for the quality of his opposition, who he beat, and who he lost to....but if you look at floyds record his best opponet IS an older de la hoya so what does that say about the rest of floyds opposition???

Oscar's faced the elite, Floyd really hasn't. And to be honest, I don't see Floyd gettin by a prime Mosley let alone a prime Whitaker. Mosley was way to fast and way too big for Floyd. And Whitaker I think could touch up Floyd for 12, while making Floyd's little arms hit air for the most part.

As for who has the better legacy, too early to tell. Floyd might actually build up the nerve to step up and Oscar may pull a miracle out of his ass lol.
