What if Ricky Hatton can't make 140 anymore?

Just hypthetically speaking....don't give me the "he trains hard and he will make weight" responses.

What if he starts struggling like Castillo did at lightweight prior to the third Corrales fight and fails to make weight.

He has admitted that the fighters at 147 are too strong for him, even Floyd a former Super-featherweight. He would be stuck in boxing purgatory...Too weak for 147...too big to make 140.

He'd make money fighting at a catchweight. He has that ability. 143 would be fine, and he'd still fight 140 pounders. It'd be fine, honestly. You don't need to make money off of titles at Ricky's point in his career.

it wont be an issue because once paulie beats him he might as well retire since he cant hang at 147...unless he wants to be a mere paper champion at 140...

        j/k...

seriously though if he's too big for 140 then he'll fit in somewhere at 147...

i think people make too much out of a 7 pound weight difference...

floyd isnt too strong for hatton...floyd is too SMART for hatton.

hatton isnt a weak individual...i think he just has problems against pure boxers...

there would be a ton of interesting fights he could make at 147 (should he decide to move up) like him vs margarito or quintana or clottey; etc...note...im not saying he'd beat all those guys im just saying they'd be good fights...

realistically i see him beating a quintana and clottey but not being able to get past a miguel cotto; antionio margarito; or maybe paul williams...the rest i think he can beat...

he has some options open...like a potential catchweight fight with pacquiao (that has been talked about a little bit here on the boards).

he's not stuck he has plenty of options...IF...he can get past malignaggi (which i dont think he can).

        i win the thread.

first of all he dosent have any problems, and i dont think he's gonna fight on much longer to get to that limit. in other words i think he'll be retired by the time he's body will struggle

but there are 2 things he can do

first he can retire sooner than anticipated because he's ****ed

2 he can move up and start doing what mayweather is doing. fighting smaller guys or guys that dont present any big risks

No I'm not a fan and I actually think that Malignaggie will box his head off when they fight.
