    amir khan is overrated......

i dont wanna sound like ive got something against the guy which i dont, but to be honest i think he is a bit above average professional fighter, nothing more and quite overhyped by alot of british people. he was an outstanding amateur, because the amateur ranks are mostly just workrate and handspeed. whoever swings more and swings faster will win most of the time. but as a pro i just think he isnt that great. all hes fought are bums and shot fighters who used to be good (gairy st clair). and he just blows some bozo (ie : graham earl) away with his fast hands and power (all he has pretty much) and people think hes the truth or something! earl was not the same after getting stopped by katsidis anyway. but the point is i just think khan is a pretty ordinary pro, if he stayed amateur he would have dominated , but i think he isnt cut out to be a pro.....what do you guys think

He's not there yet, but is certainly on his way. Katsidis took 5 rounds to get Earl out, and got knocked down by him, while Khan took him out in 70 seconds...a good achievement if you ask me. In his last two fights he has beaten people with good records and looked good doing it. At the moment he stands at 17-0 with 13 ko's, and is on the verge of getting a world title shot with Campbell.

So, no, I dont think Khan is overated. He is exactly where he deserves to be.

I have said on prior posts many times that, IMO, khan will prove himself to be a c+ to b- level fighter. i expect he will lose the first time he steps up and fights a top tier opponent. if his handlers are smart they won't let him any where near campbell for at least two years....

campbell will school khan bigtime, khan is a typical british fighter and i hate to say this but its true, typical british fighter=protected from dangerous opponents for as long as possible, padded records, and rarely ever fighting outside of ****in britain................

he was sitting on the top pf the amatuer ranks when he turned professional (silver olympic medal at the age of 17 is not a joke) and he beat the gold medalist in a re-match.

also, he is still only 21. he can learn a lot of new things when he gets a new trainer.

yes he can learn alot and has plenty of time but that "knowledge" will only serve him if he has the underlying NATURAL TALENT to apply those tools against the ELITE fighters.

And it is my opinion that Khan just doesn't have that "GREAT FIGHTER" ingredient. I expect him to lose his first fight before the end of 2009 or sooner...

I think he can be a pretty good fighter, but he can't be rushed.

Every boxer is overrated. I have Amir Khan in my sig, and I know he has a ways to go.

It's all about who you talk to, and their reason for having a positive opinion on him. If it's realistic or not.
