Graham: "Without Cortez, Ricky Beats Mayweather"

i don't think you like hatton. -
When your so close to the action, the fighters and those involved, it's understandable to have feelings or views much stronger, than some forum posters whom weren't.
He had a point, the constant stopping was excessive, and whilst Ricky shouldn't have let it get to him, Cortez stopped Hops vastly less, and was much less harsh. So it underlines it really, it's just a matter of how bad Cortez was, not if.Comment

How can anyone like these dumbasses? When Cortez was picked they were happy as hell. But after Hatton gets his ass kicked, they hate Cortez? They talked all that **** about not being one-dimensional like the American media accused Ricky of being, but then go on about "Cortez not letting him fight on the inside". If you're really so talented, why not just adopt a different gameplan? Must be embarrassing to refer to yourself as "Mr. Pressure" and get destroyed on the inside by a "boring" boxer who only "runs".Comment

all i wanna know is... when joe cortez broke floyd and ricky up... joe cortez STEPPED BACK AND OUT OF THE WAY...
and then do we all know what happened?
Ricky walked right into floyd with his hands low... and Floyd.. not joe cortez, BUT FLOYD.... landed a left hook on his jaw...
My question is.. not why did joe cortez break them up... but why did ricky walk in with his hands low and no head movement...
you can point the finger all you want... at the end of the day... if ricky was practicing good defense he wouldnt of been knocked out cold...Comment

Cortez was ****, but hatton had no chance anyways, it was obvious from early on he couldnt land on the inside or outside and that when mayweather opened up on him, it would turn into Duck Hunt 2 on the SNES.When your so close to the action, the fighters and those involved, it's understandable to have feelings or views much stronger, than some forum posters whom weren't.

Sigh. I like Hatton, but this is absurd. He's just not on Floyd's level. It wasn't even competitive. Cortez over officiated early on, but it was for about two rounds. The fact of the matter is that you can't hold and hit. Once he stopped Hatton from trying that and forced him to box, it was a complete execution.Comment

dog your clearly only interesting in whining. Referee's in any sport are often key in the ultimate direction and outcome. From football, Rugby, to boxing also. If the ref is harsher than other refs, or harsher than even he himself usually is, on a certain thing, it's bound to suite one competitor over the other. It wasn't out of this world bad, but it was there. Do I think Ricky might have won if Cortez wasn't so harsh on these things? No probably not, but it would've been more competitive to whatever agree debatable, and Hattons mindset wouldn't have been poor, with him jumping in as a result, and getting KO'd.
Sorry but you can't say his head was in the right place when he was running like that, ok he was being outboxed, and shouldn't have let it get to him, but it did and its worth mentioning when considering the fight as a whole. In a rematch I agree with Graham, Hatton stands a good chance, he'll have learnt more from the fight than Mayweather would have.Last edited by Kris Silver; 05-19-2008, 12:50 PM.Comment

Ricky lost the fight himself by not going to the body early and wearing Floyd down, He thought he could walk through and head hunt but he was wrong ...Comment
