Edison Miranda - He was supposed to be the most dangerous feared fighter in all of boxing until he met Kelly Pavlik and got absolutely destroyed.

Losing to Abraham, even w/ a broken jaw, didn't help his cause either.

I'd say Hatton. The amount of hype he received, even after barely squeaking out a win over Collazo was alarming. That should have sent off warning flares for everybody, but many still remained firmly attached to his nuts.

The biggest reality check in recent years, possibly ever, has to be Jeff Lacy.

Remember, the guy had a legitimate claim to being the best 168 pounder in the world, and many people were already proclaiming him to be. He was fancied by 90% of boxing "experts" to win by KO or wide decision.

As it happens, he was on the wrong end of one of the most one sided world title fights ever.

He learnt that night that he will never be good enough to even spar with Joe, let alone fight or beat him.

That's what I call a pretty big reality check.

Some people might not like this, but I'm gonna say Prince Naseem Hamed. He got exploited and ran outta the sport by MAB.

Juan Diaz. Nate showed him don't take short money for a mandatory thinking he would be light work.

How good they are not? I won't go there. But reality checks themselves have gone to Jeff Lacy, Ricky Hatton, Humberto Soto, Jorge Arce, Vic Darchinyan, Junior Witter, Zab Judah, Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, and Shane Mosley, among many, many others.
