That sounds like an X-Box 360 achievement.
CompuBox: Yuriokis Gamboa vs. Darling Jiminez

Kellerman is a clown, but he was just talking about Gamboa's footspeed.Comment

Who was that fighter who ducked Gamboa and Darling Jiminez took that guys place. I bet you that guy is all happy now that he didn't step in the ring with Gamboa because Gamboa would probably have beat the crap out of him if not ko'd him. Jiminez offense might not have been impressive but he was picking alot of shots off at the same time, and his defense is what was good in that fight even though he was clearly out pointed.Comment

I thought Jimenez fought a really solid fight. I didn't think he won - but I didn't think he deserved to get completely ignored by the HBO comentators either. They did some serious nuthugging on Gamboa. I loved it when Kellerman said that Jimenez's punches didn't matter if they landed and then ten seconds later Gamboa is on the canvas. Also, that one highlight of Gamboa in between rounds where he missed every single punch he threw and even Lennox had to admit "Well he's not really landing everything here . . ." How about he landed nothing?
Sometimes these guys get ahead of themselves and turn into cheerleaders instead of commentators. Gamboa was blowing everyone away before this fight and Jimenez dropped him and backed him up for nearly the whole fight. But all you hear about is how Gamboa is lacking this and lacking that - nothing about Jimenez digging some nice shots to the body or shaking Gamboa up twice in the fight, check out that right in the sixth - that shook G up. Gamboa landed a lot of pitty-pat amateur punches, thus the Compubox disparity. He's clearly got great reflexes but he's still just an elite amateur with much to learn in the pros. But jeez, give Jimenez some credit he fought a solid fight.Comment

I don't know why some of you are fighting about this so much.
Gamboa is no tyson or dempsey (as one poster said) and he's not RJJ (as another poster said); he's Yuriorkis Gamboa.
This was only his 10th pro fight true and that means he can take a little time to improve however please keep in mind he's already 26 so you can expect to see him make a move for the top of the division in the next 2-3 years.
Other than not keeping his hands up i'd say gamboa looked AMAZING considering it was his 10th pro fight. i understand he had an extensive amatuer background (500 something fights wasnt it?) but he has natural ability...he's extremely fast; nice solid strength in his punches...he can really take this to the top of the division with some fine tuning (and a trainer who insists he keeps his hands up).
So i dont know why everyone is fighting...for a 10th pro fight (and with the exception of him never keeping his hands up) i thought he looked above average so say the least (considering the stage of his pro career he's at).Comment

I was always impressed about Gamboa, but not so much this time against Jimenez. I realised that he will get big problems if he faces hard punchers if he doesnt keep his hands higher. He has to improve his defense. Maybe he just underrated Jimenez, dont know but i hope the knockout was a reality check for him. He has to be more serious in the ring and dont to silly things.
But dont forget that Jimenez is a good fighter, i would rate him Top15. He has stopped Mighty Mike Arnaoutis in round 3 or something and was maybe not just underrated by Gamboa but by other people too.Comment
