Calzaghe is my second favorite fighter and I like Pavlik A LOT more than Margarito, but let's be real here. Margarito and Cotto have been two of the top fighters in boxing's hottest division for a while now. Pavlik just recently made noise in the MW disvision, and Calzaghe has been a top dog at 168 for over a decade, so it's not until very recently that people thought about matching these two up.

Also, the Mexican-PRican rivalry is much bigger and historic than the US-UK one, and the Tony-Cotto fight was already made and later called off, so all of this adds up to a much more anticipated fight.

How am I proven wrong? I never stated it wasn't more anticipated on boxingscene, or by me, for that matter; as I voted for Marg/Cotto.

Calzaghe-Pavlik would be good but it ain't even official. Cotto-Marg finally is. Joe C's probably gonna face RJ next anyway while Pavlik's ****in around wit Lockett.

Pavlik's first PPV outing versus an established and well known Jermaine Taylor yielded disappointing PPV results. Calzaghe engaged in one of the lowest rated HBO fights in history with Kessler and the demand for Calzaghe/Hopkins was not enough for it to land on PPV. It also had a slow start in ticket sales. Pavlik/Calzaghe insn't as attractive to the general public as Cotto vs. Margarito regardless of the nationalistic implications. Lets be real here.

Yeah, I was contemplating putting that on my poll but that wouldn't be a fight... that would be a ****ing execution. But of course many people would like to pay for more violence so this would be way ahead of any match in terms of anticipation.
