I actually know Joe and talk to him on a regular basis

He isn't some flashy celebrity, he is grounded and just one of the guys.

Johnson lost to Otte, Shieka and many other no names during that time period. It was a good win but overrated because Johnson primed late.

Just to remind you the slapper was dropped by a 43yr old.

I wish I could give the slapper some credit but then what heas he done for boxing?

man, you getting owned in a thread doesn't mean people aren't giving Calzaghe respect. Hell, I think Calzaghe is probably the best super middle weight of all time. Just because people don't agree with a thread topic and your personal opinion, doesn't mean they aren't giving Joe credit.

Joe Calzaghe is EASILY in the category of Toney, Hopkins and Roy and I think he is better than them, bar Roy.

Hopkins has never impressed me that much in his prime (and yes, I've watched his fight vs Johnson). He looked ruthless but Johnson hadn't fought anyone at the time and was coming in off a loss over Omar Shieka FFS (Calzaghe destroyed him in 5). Johnson only got good late in his career.
Look it's easy to call other people on this forum biased but number one, you are Welsh and number two, you have admitted that you started watching boxing because of Joe Calzaghe.

Couldn't you be a little biased yourself when it comes to Calzaghe?

I'm not saying you are the only biased fan in these forums, I've argued with Americans who think that Calzaghe couldn't shine a prime Jones' boots despite all his achievements.

I have also argued with Brits who believe that Calzaghe would KO a prime Roy Jones and would win a shutout over a prime James Toney.

Did you happen to see any of these fights? Johnson has gotten robbed on quite a few occasions.

He sure as hell didn't make Calzaghe look good. Even hardcore calzaghe fans admit that that fight was one of Joe's worst performances to date.

I don't really see anyone not giving him credit. Most of the same people included myself who argue about Calzaghe's accomplishments or what he was capable of in his prime have him ranked in their current top 5 P4P, most in the 2-3 position. However, I and many others feel he is being overcredited with such claims that he could easily beat Hopkins in his prime or even Jones. That's saying A LOT.
