Prime Calzaghe beats Prime Hopkins convincingly

Anyways, I'm cool w/arguing with you any further about this, your name is on the top of the "calzaghe nutthugging list" that was made several weeks back. Further, there was a thread made shortly after their fight about who would win prime vs prime and the majority picked hopkins, so I'm not in the minority in my way of thinking.

I think posting and reading this forum has had me and many other Calzaghe fans here half convinced that Joe Calzaghe doesn't measure up to the US holy trinity of Roy Jones Jr, James Toney and Bernard Hopkins.

Well guess what, I've been watching a load of fights featuring all four of these fighters over the last couple of days, and that opinion is bull****. Joe Calzaghe is a match for those three in every way shape and form.

Prime for prime he would defeat all three of them. I am tired of kowtowing to the majority opinion on here and compromising my own reading of these fighters games.

I heartily suggest to those of you who dismiss Calzaghe to go away and watch some of his fights again, and subject his game to the same kind of analysis you give to your favourites. I suggest the Kessler fight. Calzaghe posseses speed and unpredictability only marginally inferior to Jones, his power is fine, his chin incredible, he is incredible at adjusting, excellent defensively and can box, brawl and counterpunch.

You can start calling me delusional, but I have just realised that I am not. The only delusional thing I have been doing is ignoring the evidence of my own eyes and trying to make my observations fit in with the predominantly US opinion on these boards. I'm not doing it anymore.

u forgot to mention Calzaghe beating Monzon & Hagler

From watching Calzaghe vs Hopkins it shows that Calzaghe Struggled with a 43 year old Hopkins who actually faded in the last couple of rounds. A prime Hopkins would not fade, the workrate Hopkins used at 43 could of gave him the victory, in his prime he had a clearly better workrate, as for calzaghe's power it may be better than what it is now but it was not ever good enough to trouble Hopkins, Hopkins has a great chin. Hopkins also has better defence and Joe's defence is **** to be honest. Hopkins in his prime would win UD.

Hopkins ruined him. He made him look like he couldn't even fight. It's one thing to look ordinary, but he made Joe looked like he couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. Did yall mofos see the gif natas posted. Calzaghe tries to force a flurry missing everything and akwardly lunges himself in front of Hopkins amidst getting decked for his efforts. That was the fight in a nutshell, this was like what
I saw on fight night. He barely got passed a man who did everything he could to conserve energy in the bout, including trying to milk excessive recovery time for 2 feigned low blows. The fact that Hopkins looked an ancient 43 when it was all said and done and Joe got what many consider to be a questionable win is a testament to Bernard's greatness.

You guys thinking Joe beats Nard in his prime are nuts, when the version that fought Wright would've ran away with the victory. **** even Wright put up a better showing against Bernard than Joe and Wink was gassed after 10.
