the third fight really showed the courage of both men, maybe there's an appeal there. but both were past their prime, gassed out much quicker and neither man made it competitive for himself. just 2 old guys trying to outlast father time.

I always liked the third fight because they both showed their champions' hearts even though they were past their primes, they both left everything in that ring, neither man was willing to lose the third fight to the other and they both fought like they were 5 or 6 years younger. They were never the same again.
The event of the third fight was definitely better than the third fight though.
Anyway, I'm probably biased because it was the fight that made me hooked on boxing.

and i cant agree on the age part. to me at least they showed their age pretty fast and faded early. it wasnt about conditioning, their hearts kept them fighting. joe also had problems with his eye, and it made it that much tougher on him. both took alot of punishment. i doubt that there are a lot of young conditioned fighters out there who could go through that.
and yes they were finished after this fight. but both of them also retired too late with unecessary comebacks.
