After winning the WBC international title I will try to get my hands on the belt Pacquiao’s wearing right now. Though I hope that he doesn’t put it down so I will have the chance to take it from him in the ring.”

I highly doubt that his team is really interested in fighting Pacquiao. They know that Pacquiao is vacating that belt and moving to lightweight to fight David Diaz in July. They know that Pacquiao isn't going to stay at that weight to defend his title against Gamboa.

Better start saving now because you'll cough up alot of cash if you do. A good amateur background does not necesarily translate into pro elite. There's a whole world of difference in that ring without the headgear. We have yet to see Gamboa respond to a cut or an eye swoll shut. Pac has proven he can come back from both and even from knockdowns and still win the fight.

I like Gamboa a lot, I've seen him do some impressive stuff early in his career, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He's a prospect who is being moved along very smart in his career. He looks great blowing out these guys early in his career, but how many of his 9 opponents do you think took quick money on 7 days notice? It happens a lot in a fighter's early progression.

A lot of details can be obscured by flashy performances. He still hasn't shown that he can pace himself properly or be as effective in the later rounds. Jiminez is a damn good fighter when he wants to be, and could provide some answers as to what is right and wrong with Gamboa.

              PacMan

Gamboa impressed me on ESPN, but lets get real. He is nowhere near Manny's league right now. He should keep his trap shut before he steps in more s**t than he wants to get on him.

Speaking of Guzman, so is the Arthur fight OFF or what? Haven't heard a single word in a couple weeks.

Skill for skill? Pacman aint on Gamboas level in that department

Experience wise Gamboa should have a few more fights, you should be happy hes already calling out the top names, atleast u know if he does become champ, hes willing to fight the best, not no bums

Gamboa is not ready for Pac yet. Tons of amatuer experience, sure, but the pros are a lot different. In about a year should be a good fight.

"At the moment Gamboa is rated on No. 3 in the WBA and on No. 4 in the WBC world rankings."

Question: Does Gamboa deserve to be ranked so high after only 9 fights or is this a case of a recognizable prospect being elevated higher because of his name?

Or, were any of his recent opponents highly ranked in either WBA or WBC?
