Great debate. Puerto Rico is a beautiful place. Boxing country, I love it.

I cant understant. The debate should be between Wilfredo Benitez and Felix Trinidad. Cotto fought an old shane mosley, who didnt was a shadow to the man who beat DLH twice. Trinidad Made 15 title defenses, unified with a prime DLH. Cotto can be at second place if he beats Margarito. And he has to beat Mayweather to be no.1 but it depends how impressive he beat the guy who is running from him.

Agree with the article in that Benitez shouldn't be considered so it comes down to Tito and Cotto. Tito obviously is PR's best WW based on his 15 defenses. In order for Cotto to rise to #1 WW in PR's history he would have to IMO beat Marg and Mayweather at WW and retire undefeated.

Benitez didn't fight anybody worth noting at WW. The article says it. His main fights were at 154 against Leonard and Duran. He essentially jumped from 140 to 154. That's why the argument is between Cotto and Tito.

I say Miguel Cotto could be on Benitezs level in a few yyears after his fight with Mayweather or even Duran, Benitez probaly Alex De Jesus. At Welterweight. Trinidad just had a llot of defenses about it, and knocked people out in style.

Right now I would say Trinidad, but when it's all said and done I have no doubt that it will be Cotto. Cotto is a better all around fighter than Trinidad and he has the focus and discipline that Benitez was missing.

tito has a bunch of title defenses at welterweight.even though he won a controversial win over oscar after oscar become a kenyan in the late rounds he is the best.cotto will be if he unifies.he has his shot.

All I want to come on here to say is that Cotto is (2) wins away from being the best PR fighter of all time regaurdless of what happens after these (2) fights that I speak of. Obviously, he needs to beat Margarito. He doesnt have to dominate, because I dont think anyone has dominated Tony M. yet. He does have to win convincingly though. In my opinion, Margarito will be the one in trouble in this fight because he will stand in front of Cotto, which will spell disaster for anyone below 154lbs. I have no doubts that Cotto will win this fight by KO. The second thing that Cotto has to do is secure and win a fight against Floyd Mayweather. I know, it is a long shot to get Floyd in the ring, but you never know. Mayweather will eventually want to seal his legacy too, and there will be no way to do that without beating Cotto. IMO, they need each other. I honestly think that Cotto has a shot at beating Mayweather, but think that he will probably lose by decision. I give him props, and hope that he would win. But, I just think Mayweather is a little too elusive for him to shine against. Would be one hell of a fight either way. Back to my point: If Cotto beats Tony Margarito and Floyd M. , he goes down as the best PR fighter of all time at any weight.
