I believe both fighters are facing a challenge they've never faced. I believe they are both stepping up in opposition. One fighter has A LOT to gain and nothing to lose while the other has a something to gain and nearly everything to lose. Making this a hard fight to chose. For me at least. Obviously you have no trouble whatsoever picking against Cotto.

When you look through this thread it's easy to see why Margarito is going to be a star. Expectations are nice and low. Sadly, some of these people are actually going to be surprised. It's scary in fact..

You think Cotto is stepping up? What was Shane Mosley? Zab Judah?

Ive been reading this thread for a while, and I can understand your point of view but you don't have to keep repeating yourself telling everyone over and over, whilst I think margarito can win this fight I think his stock is very high after a win over a weak champion in cintron. Whenever margarito comes up against a good fighter he struggles, you don't have to be a defensive genious to beat him, Paul williams certainly isn't. cotto has fought in many different ways over the years, back foot, front foot, high workrate like against torres and judah, or a more methodical approach. Either way I think your vastly underrating cotto.

Don't get me wrong cotto will go through sticky patches and maybe lose some rounds especailly in the later rounds cos he is going up against a world class pressure fighter, but I wouldn't be surprised if cotto makes this look pretty easy and thoroughly out-boxes marg. for the majority of the night, remember you don't need to use the whole ring to out-box someone. I can see cotto pelting marg with combos and turning him constantly with subtle body movement and superior footwork and handspeed. My prediction is cotto stops margarito late, for facial damage/cuts, this is only my opinion

In a way, yes. According to you? Both past their prime. I think its a step up because it's something Cotto has never faced before. And you certainly can't say hes past his prime or shot or weak. Depending on how he fights this fight and how it goes this could be very a telling fight.

If Cotto is such a good goddamn Boxer then why did he get his rep as a Boxer over ****ing night?? All this johnny-come-lately monday morning **** is a joke.

The educated fans talk about his early career - now. NOW they talk about it.

The Shane Mosley fight created this impression. That's where it started.

The people who sincerely believe this better do themselves a favor and watch that fight again. But, this time - watch Shane Mosley for every second of every minute of every round. See how outrageously easy it was to "outbox" that Century Bob aka Sugar Shane Mosley on November 11th, 2007. Have a good look.

While they're at it have another look at the Gomez fight. Watch closely - and again; watch Gomez the entire fight instead of Cotto. See how many times Gomez caught Cotto making completely ****** Boxing mistakes and how many times he landed dead clean on Cotto's face and head.

                      That's not only your opinion.

That sounds an awful lot like the vast majority of opinions.
