There's No Place Like Home For Hatton

By TK Stewart - Say what you will about Floyd Mayweather, Jr., but it seems like after guys lose to him, they, like Dorothy in 'The Wizard of Oz' just close their eyes, click their heels together and repeat the words, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home."

Last weekend it was Oscar De La Hoya, who after losing to Floyd "The Wicked Witch of the West" Mayweather, Jr. last year, went back home to fight in Los Angeles for the first time in eight years. The promotion was titled "Homecoming" and it attracted nearly 30,000 fans.

In two weeks it'll be Ricky Hatton's turn to fight in front of his family and friends. Hatton, of course, was beat down by Mayweather under a twister of blows last December in Las Vegas. And after licking his wounds, Ricky and his entourage pretty much hopped on the first broomstick back to Manchester and have barely been seen outside of England since. Tickets for the fight have been red hot and Hatton's return to England, like De La Hoya's to L.A., promises to be a sell-out, too.

Hatton is going to face off against the "Hispanic Causin' Panic" Juan Lazcano on May 24th in Ricky's hometown of Manchester and it sure feels like deja vu all over again.

Didn't we just live through all of this with Oscar?

"It's always nice to be home," said Hatton who, last month, was already down in weight to 150 pounds. "My last four fights have been in America and the support I've gotten over there has been absolutely phenomenal." [details]

Personally, I'm looking forward to this fight. It hasn't gotten much chatter but it will be interesting to see what goes on. Strange things can happen after big knockout losses.

People are undrestimating this fight Addison because it looks like a sure win for Hatton. Some people dont relise that Lazcano and Hattons style make for a war in the ring.

Im not building Lazcano into something he's not but he is durable and he likes to fight toe to toe.

This fight will be a cracker while it lasts.

It'd be better if Malignaggi werent fighting a guy who he already dominated. It'll be hard to top the first fight.

Hatton may have some trouble with Lazcano's inside fighting for short moments. He should run through him late because he has the fresher legs and is so much quicker. I expect him to look as good as he's been in a while.

you know how most fighters think ahead to upcoming opponents hatton is still thinking behind to mayweather and how he was "robbed" by the ref and how he was doing good. i think he has brain damage and someone should set him straight. cotto will you do the honors with a lowblow to the nuts?

Good deal Ricky. KO this warrior, beat Malignaggi down and get back in there with Floyd and fight him with a good ref & on neutral ground. Prove to all the naysayers that you are for real and was'nt dominated by Mayweather. I get tired of people saying that he got creamed the whole fight, when he acually was right in there until about the 6th round. The judges did'nt think so, but it was obvious to anyone who doesnt judge in Vegas regularly.

i think hatton has showed a willingness to change his lifestyle - this time around the word is that he is ahead of schedule to make weight and i think that should help hatton in the long term - if he wants to cement his status as a legend then he needs to beat the best in his division.

if he is to do that then he needs to have every advntage possible nd if one of those is not punishing himslef to make weight then thats what needs to be one.

personally i dont hatton could beat maayweather again but i think more than anything hatton just wants to give a good account of himself.
