why is soccer so fun to watch on tv? nothing happens. nothing. in american football plays are what makes it exciting. your on the edge of your seat wondering whats gonna happen the next play. in soccer your not on the edge of your seat watching guys pass the ball in the middle of the field for an hour and maybe take 2 shots a game. more headbutts would be nice.Comment

Its just perception. In 'soccer' the enjoyment comes from watching 1) the skill of the individual players and 2) the way they use that skill as a team to break down the opposition. It's more of an art than a science, that's why they call it 'the beautiful game'. Notions of measurable 'progress' are anathema in soccer, unlike in US football, where its basically a series of set piece events where one team definitively gets the better of it. Either the offense wins or the defense wins, then its time for the next play. In 'soccer' offense can turn to defense in a heartbeat (and vice versa), which is what makes it so entertaining.why is soccer so fun to watch on tv? nothing happens. nothing. in american football plays are what makes it exciting. your on the edge of your seat wondering whats gonna happen the next play. in soccer your not on the edge of your seat watching guys pass the ball in the middle of the field for an hour and maybe take 2 shots a game. more headbutts would be nice.Comment

Well I'd like to see a game where one team scored 8 goals... they aren't very common.
But really, it is more that they like the act of scoring, not jockeying for position. If you increase the amount of points per goal, it probably wouldn't make it very much more enjoyable for those watching.Comment
