Ummn...you do realize I said Cotto and not Margarito, right?

I was very surpirsed tho to see Margarito backing away from Lujan in multiple rounds and how it completely took away his power. His movement and D was very bad also and I believe in spots Cotto will have him moving backwards pressuring and scoring very well. Anton posted the Ceballos fight, spots of the Mosley fight to illustrate Cotto's ability to fight on the backfoot. The Ndou fight is also a good illustration of this skill cause he will need it. Margarito will be hit often and his poor defense/movement will be his undoing.

What makes you think Margarito has a better chin than Mosley? He's been down more than Shane (3 times) and hurt by lesser punchers than Vernon Forrest. The main and perhaps only barometer for gauging Margarito's chin seems to be the Cintron fights, because other than Kermit..Marg hasn't even faced another genuine puncher. But what people fail to realize is, even Jesse Feleciano, a fighter who had been starched in a round by Mike Arnaoutis, stopped by D-Hop in 4, and dropped by a single punch from Andrey Tsurkan, was walking through Cintron's shots for 10 rounds. And that's mainly due to them both applying pressure on Kermit and not allowing him to plant his feet regularly enough to generate power.

Margarito was going back early because of the sheer physical strength of Lujan. I found it surprising because it wasn't like Lujan was jabbing at him to back him, he just walked right in.

As Lujan began to tire, Margarito started backing him and took over the fight.

The N'Dou fight was a very good learning experience for Cotto, since I felt that N'Dou had just beat Sharmba Mitchell. It shows Cotto's ability to adjust and go to Plan B when tearing through an opponent doesn't work.

If nothing more, Cotto can be effective using his legs more so than Margarito.

Margarito should know he needs to start fast and throw somewhere around 100 punches each and every round. Margarito's main problem tho I think will be that Cotto will make him circle and reset his feet often and throw off his offensive rhythm with hard jabs. Cotto's trainers better make sure he don't lean forward and down as he likes to do at times inside cause Margarito is not the fastest but his uppercuts are strong

I agree that Cotto better not lean in, but the same can also be applied to Margarito. When he tries to get inside, he has a tendency to bend at the waist, which could leave him prey to Margarito's punches also.

If Margarito can pressure behind a snappy jab, he can force Cotto out of punching position and force him to box in flurries, where isn't as successful. If Cotto can establish his jab, Margarito will have trouble of his own.

Lujan's style is very similar to Cotto. Except Cotto is lightyears ahead.

Lujan was a plodder, Cotto comes in behind jabs.

margarito has only been down once in his career against diaz
mosley was down twice against forrest
and someone made a poll about who punches harder at welterweight and cintron won by a wide margin if cintron couldnt even harm margarito cotto has no chance of knocking him out
