I'm confident they'll fight eventually. If Cotto goes out, takes care of Margarito on July 26th in somewhat impressive fashion, and the fight does well on PPV, the lure of a fight with Cotto would be too hard to ignore for Floyd Mayweather.

Yeah if Cotto loses to Margarito, Mayweather and his fans will take their rat claws, and try to take away everything Cotto has accomplished Cotto already has a better resume then Floyd right now, if not an equal one. He's creating bigger fights, taking all the risks and continues to win, and just really on a whole other level then Floyd is. At this pace, especially because it's still pretty early in Miguels Career. Miguel has a chance to surpass someone like Floyd. Then again I think alot of other fighters are already beyond Floyd. I mean Floyd is the only active one that has no Shane Mosley, or Whitaker anywhere on his record.

And somthin tells me that in this rare case, if Cotto loses anytime soon, Mayweather will completely avoid him from then on. When in past cases, it took like Zab Judah to lose in order for Mayweather to actually sign anything. That's just how dangerous Cotto looks/is. Even if he loses, Floyd won't want to risk an ass whoopin like that.

I wouldn't be completely dismissive of Cotto's resume. He has fought something like 10-12 former, current, or future champions. Obviously, Floyd's resume is better, primarily due to him being around longer, but I think it's a bit shortsighted to look at who Cotto's beaten and say, "Big deal."

Excuses Floyd Has Made

1. Cotto's resume not worthy of attention from Floyd
2. He can beat Cotto so why should he fight him?
3. Cotto isn't a big PPV fighter yet
4. Cotto isnt an entrepenuer
5. Cotto needs to leave Bob Arum for the fight to happen
6. Cotto hasnt called him out

Instead of going through a list of excuses he wrote down on a notepad while soakin in a bath tub, all he really has to say # 6 just to get people to shut up because that one is the most legit. that would serve him best.
