Are you allowed to eat in a fight?

The real question is what happens if you puke on your opponent during a bout.

This happened in the Tye Fields-Jeff Ford II match. Fields hit him in the gut and he puked all over Fields, resulting in a KO victory.

I know this is an odd/****** question but are you allowed to eat in the corner, between rounds? My guess is no and I don't know why you would want to eat (maybe if you're tired and want energy). It seems like eating would just cause cramps or make you throw up. But If you ate something like Cliff shot blox it wouldn't fill you up that much but it would give you a little boost of energy.


What are you allowed to drink in the corner? Just water or can you drink gatorade or other sports drinks? Does anyone know the history/rules on this?

It is my understanding that eating in the corner was the whole reason James Toney took up boxing.

I believe there are some Commisions that allow gatorade and there are many more that do not allow anything but water. I would imagine that gatorade could help fighters since it is such a long competition.

I wrestled and dont even remember taking water during a match unless it was on blood time to wash out my mouth. You'd be surprised how much blood you get in your mouth when your nose is bleeding.
