  • Are you allowed to eat in a fight?

I know this is an odd/****** question but are you allowed to eat in the corner, between rounds? My guess is no and I don't know why you would want to eat (maybe if you're tired and want energy). It seems like eating would just cause cramps or make you throw up. But If you ate something like Cliff shot blox it wouldn't fill you up that much but it would give you a little boost of energy.

What are you allowed to drink in the corner? Just water or can you drink gatorade or other sports drinks? Does anyone know the history/rules on this?

I don't know the answer. But I don't suppose you wanna eat. A solid shot in the midsection would probably be more painful if your stomach is digesting.

I got a related story: 2 hours before his professional debut against Tunney Hunsaker, a supremely confident Cassius Clay ate a huge meal. In the fight he got hit with a good shot in the gut, and Ali later recalled how he regretted eating 'cos he had to compose himself for fear of throwing up in the ring.

sure you can, look at tyson, he eats not before the fight, not in the corner, but during the actual fight, on the go. it's good because you keep your body constantly digesting protein. Holly's ears are very high in protein

i know sam langford used to drink squeezed oranges. but that was back in the days, they wont allow it now.

but during a work out you body will actually benefit more from drinking something like an orange juice rather than water.

You can eat before the fight, but I believe that you can't digest anything other than water between rounds.

when ur in that kind of intense physical exertion your body takes away most of the bloodflow going to your digestion system so that more blood can go to the working muscles so no anything you put in your body other than water will just sit there until you're done boxing.

The real question is what happens if you puke on your opponent during a bout.
