His entire career was built up to get that one big money fight. No fighter would pass up that much money. Calzaghe is also at that point in his career where he's fought enough cherry picked opponent to get some sense of false credibility from boxing fans and is now looking only for big money fights. He will not take the same risk Hatton did, though, because there just isn't a big enough money match at 168 or 175 to force him to take a risky fight...
