Is Oscar v. Floyd II still a scam if...

    oscar beats floyd?

it seems as if many (not all but certainly a fair amount) of fans think its a ripoff because floyd will win a fight against simply a "name" out of his prime instead of a true welter.

teddy atlas kind of made a similar point of WNF saying he felt oscar v. forbes was an attempt to say oscar will be just as impressive against floyd (hyping the fight and forbes too much)...

so if oscar wins the rematch is it still a scam?

i clicked on yes, but not sure why haha.

the only reason it is taking place is for the fat cheque they will both get. but then boxing is a pro sport and it dont for money. But i just feel this fight isnt even about boxing, its about going over old ground as its the most cash either fighter can earn.

Saying that tho i think Hatton should get another crack at Mayweather.

        wait wait wait...

you are against the oscar v. floyd rematch but FOR hatton v. mayweather II?

        are you crazy?

if the forum all had to decide in a poll i think people would rather see oscar v. floyd II rather than mayweather v. hatton where all that happened was a clinch fest and a shorter/smaller fighter getting knocked out by floyd; and the ringpost.

at least the oscar fight was competitive...

hatton v. mayweather was hard to watch; mayweather was far too superior and i scored it in a landslide for floyd and then hatton go knocked out anyway.

i dont believe a hatton v. mayweather rematch is in anyway warranted...hatton do anything in that fight that showed me a rematch is deserved or the outcome could be any different than the first time.

oscar did; he fought mayweather to an extremely close split decision.

and oscar has shown his stamina/endurance is back.

No~ its not a scam, Look when ever you have a fight that close a rematch shouldnt be questioned I think the reason why Teddy is so upset about this much like some of the fans is because after four weeks of 24/7 and all the hype and money put into this fight we didnt get what we thought we would get.
But my question regarding that is how can you expect Leonard vs Hearns when DLH and PBF are neither of those two? I mean lets be honest both men are boxers, there is no Boxer vs ****er, and to think you would get that the first time around is just crazy.
Sure people want to see Floyd fight a Cotto or Margarito no doubt and those fights I am sure will happen sooner or later. I think Teddy is being too hard on De La Hoya, when he refers to Oscar not conducting himself like a fighter in the ring, not taking the risk of a hungry fighter etc.. Floyd doesnt exactly do the same thing himself and its unfair to just lable one with that jacket when both are really the same.
Bottom line is most fans were so hyped for this fight because it really was the biggest event in the sport for years, and becuase they got what they got they feel ripped off, but honestly what the hell did you expect? Oscar to knock out Floyd like he did Mayorga?
That wasnt going to happen we all knew that infact most that predicted who would win did so by UD and all of the sudden we are shocked that it went the distance in a close semi boring fight?
(I didnt think the fight was boring personaly I thought we had a good display of boxing on May 5th)

            i agree...

Oscar v. Floyd isnt going to be like Diaz v. Diaz was...

its going to be a tactical boxing match...not brawl...boxing match.

Its like the guy on this local bay area radio station was saying after the first fight, "this fight was garbage; where's the standing 8 counts; the blood; the multiple knockdowns; etc."...

so i called the station (they mainly cover baseball and basketball and that idiot has no business talking boxing) and said, "this was floyd v. ocsar we just seen, two very smart tactical boxers, you cant expect to see a brawl with two fighters of that caliber AND in a fight so huge they want to play it safe"...

he basically hung up on me and said, "you got suckered; you dont know anything about boxing; you dont know what you're talking about" etc. etc. etc.

but i DO know what im talking about...this is two of the best of their time in there with each other...each knows how great the other is...does anyone REALLY expect them to just go toe to toe in the center of the ring and throw caution to the wind? i sure dont...

i really liked the first fight...a lot...(to be perfectly honest)...

and this rematch is definately warranted in my opinion; oscar fought him closer than anyone else...that doesnt deserve a rematch?

sure i'd like to see him fight cotto or maragrio; ie. a real prime welterweight. however oscar is 35/36 and he's getting older; he cant wait until floyd fights 3-4 welterweights and then have the rematch...however a miguel cotto or margarito can wait for just one fight and i think the fans can too.

oscar looks to have his stamina back and floyd sr in his corner...it could be highly beneficial to him. or not...who knows...

thats why september 20th we will see two of this generations' best in there again and i been waiting to see the rematch since may 5th of last year when the fight was over.

I think DLH lining himself up with another Mega fight with Cotto in December might be enough motivation for him to take more risk this time around, I mean if Oscar is serious about fighting Cotto he is going to be in a must win situation.
I am not so sure about Floyd perhaps he is ****y enough to think this will be an easy fight, or he might just want to prove to the world that he is better than his Daddy and train his ass off, one thing is for sure, if Floyd goes out there looking for the stoppage he will get stopped.
I expect a re run of last years fight possibly a close win for Oscar this time.

oscar knows he HAS TO win against floyd to get a fight with cotto...

and i can see a similar fight to the last one...maybe with oscar not tiring down the stretch and a POSSIBLE win for oscar...im not counting him out...he is the golden boy after all...haha

but seriously oscar is a top fighter of his time and i think he has all the skill and everything on his side (except age) to beat a floyd mayweather jr.

This sounds like one of those fights that would be rigged so there could be a third.

no. lol. If Oscar win then it shows that a rematch was a legitimate idea. If he loses, its why the **** did you con me into paying $50 dollars again. Unless its real competitive.
