Yes there are some new influx of fans to this sport; if you were always afraid to ask a question because you thought you were going to get ridiculed? Well, you're not; if you post the question in this thread that is.

    Here's the ****** questions I wanna know:
Why is boxing called "the sweet science"?
What is the difference between a straight and a cross?
Why is it that when somebody drops their hands they are ****y?

The 3 knockdown rule is used by some states.

Edit: Check this out for an answer to the question about boxing being called the sweet science. http://en.allexperts.com/q/English-S...et-science.htm

Ahhhh "The Sweet Science", no other sport carries such a distinguished
moniker. The hard part is living up to the term. Some like Shane
Mosley, Floyd Mayweather and Ricardo Lopez do it justice. Others such
as Butterban, Tye Fields, and... well, you get the idea. The phrase
first gained prominence when used by renowned New York sports writer
A.J. Libeling on short stories compiled in a series of articles for
'The New Yorker' magazine in the 1950s. Boxing broadcasters picked up
on the term and spread it widely with the emergence of television.
Libeling reportedly borrowed the phrase from Pierce Egan's 'Boxiana',
a collection of articles about boxing in England during the 1700s.
Egan called boxing "The Sweet Science of Bruising." Which just goes to
prove that sometimes, subtraction is better than addition. Watching
HBO boxing shows minus George Foreman proves this theory correct”

Hey WTF! Their degrading the almighty Tye Fields in this article. I think we should sue their ass for such a dumb comment. They clearly haven't seen his last fights.

But anyway, a No Contest is when the official result from a fight is erased from the record books, therefore, it would be as if the fight never happened.

I was thinking about this the other day.

                    (Hypothetically speaking of course)

What if a boxer focuses punching the other boxers shoulders? Wouldn't this limit the other boxers offense? Is this illegal? By the way, I'm not saying to solely focus on the shoulders and make it ****ing obvious what you're trying to do but to incorporate the shoulder punching into one's arsenal?

                    What you guys think?
