One thing is clear to me...

Larry Merchant does NOT understand what it is to be a fighter, or what it is that is ACTUALLY going on inside the ring. Listening to him all these years... he comes off like he knows something but his knowledge of (actual) boxing is VERY limited

I'm a HUGE Larry Merchant fan, but I agree with you 100%. It was never more apparent than it was tonight. Not surprisingly, Manny Steward has the best insight into actual boxing, and its not like he nuthugs boring non-crowd pleasing fighters either!

          You too, huh?
His HISTORY of boxing is probably off the charts.
But the way he was talking about Forbes...
          I was actually getting mad.

Steward was doing some major league nuthugging of Oscar tonight. It just seemed so obvious. It wouldn't be that bad if didn't keep repeating the same thing every damn round.

you would think after all these years merchant would know more. but then look at how off the wall george foreman could get.something about being in front of the cameras.i listen to larry on pedros show and he's like intelligent.

i always thought you gave it straight when you announced scully. isnt that a good gig?

LOL, yeah OK. Larry does NOT know (actual) boxing and that is clear. Painfully clear. And I know that Foreman and RJ picked up on the same thing NUMEROUS times during their broadcasts with him

I know!!!! He kept saying the fact that Forbes has never been knocked down is a bad thing cause it means he takes no risks.

First of all he's not in there, and second of all i've seen Forbes fight agressive and very active in his 2 most recent fights, Hopkins and Bajado. AND Tonight he fought his ass off.

idk what Merchant was talking about
