Leonard in his prime was a Welterweight, not a Middleweight and definitely not a Super Middleweight. It's like asking Calzaghe to go to Heavyweight and beat the best fighter there.

P4p Leonard was better but could he beat Calzaghe at SMW? **** no.

i aint debating this anymore p4p Leonard is a miles better fighter

Yeah Leonard was on the slide when he beat Hagler...and even worse when he lost (Sugar Ray even admitted to losing on Ringside) to Hearns and was at 168.

Also Bika and Hopkins are dirty fighters which make a fight rough for anyone/Calzaghe has trouble against rough and tough guys. Leonard isn't one of those. Also I don't know why you bring up Manfredo. It's not like he lost a round against him or struggled at all.

ITs a pickem despite what everyone is gonna say. Leonard won titles at 168 and 175, but I pick Joe close.

hearns at welterweight had tons more power than calzaghe ever will. look how hopkins punished calzaghe when he pretended he was landing punches. leonard would finish calzaghe though.

Leonard never won a title at 175. Officially he did, but he weighed in at 165 and Lalonade was 167

this thread is Dumb though its like saying lets take a fighter who is old and on the slide fighting way out of his weight class & put him in their against a natural SMW ,what are u gonna establish that Leonard was terrible at the weight due to his age or that he aint a natural SMW

P4P Leonard would school Calzaghe ,but u guys virtually want to cut Leonards right arm of and say lets see if u can beat Calzaghe

Calzaghe was way too big for Leonard. If you're talking P4P, then Ray is the better fighter. Straight up, Joe handles him easier than most people would think.

I didn't actually ask who would win this fight, just saying SRL himself said he doesn't know the outcome. If Sugar Ray doesn't know, how can all these yanks be so quick to write Joe off?

Put it this way, a bulked up Sugar Ray against a boiled down Calzaghe at middleweight, it's too close to call. Joe is naturally too big for SRL, but SRL is the better boxer, definition of a "pickem" fight.

isn't calzaghe the guy who pretended to land punches vs hopkins and still won? i think the judges actually like sugar ray unlike hopkins.
