It's pretty funny to see Cotto get talked about like he is literally Floyd Mayweather now defensively and offensively.. Somehow a wide arcing shot is going to get countered by Cotto every time, like he was Evander Holyfield - even though the arcing right hand is actually the easiest punch to hit Cotto with, and not the uppercut..

HaHA.. Good question. I think Cotto is going to take about 8 quick steps in any direction whenever things get hectic as opposed to clinching.

Maybe to some degree, but he likes changing speeds, pacing, sniffing out his opponent, and playing things more deceptive in his more recent fights. There were moments against Williams, and most recently Cintron, where Margarito looked just as fast.

Cotto was able to counter Quintana, Paulie, Judah and Mosley who are all faster than Margarito. Why do you think a slower puncher who arc's his punches more than all those above would suddenly be un-counterable?

Cotto's going to stand his ground when he has to and move around keeping Margarito off of his game.

Pressure is **** unless you succumb to it, Cintron for example, and Margarito's pressure is going to disrupted when he keeps getting pounded over and over again.
This is the first true test for Cotto and the key of the fight is only one, i said this before: Cotto's footwork. If Cotto can box going back and shows effective lateral movement (not like against Gomez lol) while throwing punches he can win and Margarito will be frustrated. However i never saw Cotto going back AND boxing, he either goes back OR "boxes". Yes because he's not a true boxer too, people forget that. He did box vs Mosley, who was open to right hands all night and was just slow enough Cotto could do it, and Gomez of course, but you can't really be serious and count Gomez. Versus Judah he couldn't do it and he payed when he tried. Versus Margarito he can do it, although i advise against it if he can't do it while going back. Williams boxed standing his ground against Margarito because well, he's a giant. Cotto will be the smaller man that night.

Why does Greg Maddux strike out more hitters than the majority of other pitchers who throw 95-98 mph? Accuracy, placement, and consistency.

Watch all those fights again the way that I do instead of chatting about them, L2B. Cotto was pecking away with counter shots in every case - playing defense with his counters and trying to get respect. This is counter intuitive to the concept of his ability to deal with pressure.. A perfect example of why he prefers to be the one administering pressure, and why he does not like to be pressured.

Cotto was doing all his best work in each and every of these cases when he was Mr. Offense. Do you know anything about Margarito? He's not going to stop coming, no matter what, at any point, unlike them. ^

Malignaggi by the way, put up a great showing against Cotto because he never stopped punching, and he kept moving inward. Cotto receeded from Paulie Malignaggi because of this. WOW. Now that is telling.

I think it depends on how Cotto decides to fight. He fought differently against Mosley then against Judah. Who knows if Cotto will try to come forward against Marg or will he try to outbox him, or even a combo of both. I'm picking Cotto but I think it's going to be a close hard fought win.
