No... but really, how many people actually thought Trinidad was the better fight after that fight?

Some Puerto Ricans I would guess, but not many others.

ur right but at the same time in that fight it showed how oscar stamina was horrible he was doing his thing but trust me oscard did not won 8 strait rounds the first 8 rounds oscar won 6 rounds 9-12 was all trinidad.

but yeah that's where the blueprint came from trinidad can't box.

i get a little upset on the thread that u said trinidad was overrated.he is NOT overrated his loses were against guys who are crafty and know how to box.nobody could of stay in front of trinidad and plus.

          2000 fighter of the year
          3 division champ,5 belts
more than 15 championships title defenses at 147.

he was a beast at 147-154.

I think the Quartey win was the most important, look Ike was highley avoided by Whitaker and Trinidad and was undefeated at the time he faced De La Hoya, not only that Gil Clancey who was working with DLH for this fight stated years prior to the fight, that Ike Quartey was the strongest fighter in the welter weight divison and that if he and Oscar did fight that Ike would beat DLH.
This fight was truely a classic and it was Ikes fight to lose and he did lose it, that last round when it was clear DLH needed to do something big Oscar took the risk to get it done.
Forget the scoring of that fight, Those judges had Oscar ahead prior to the KD in the 12th that wasnt true, However what is the truth is that KD in the last round is exactly what DLH needed to pull off the win.
This is comming from a hard core Quartey fan, no doubt in my mind DLH won that fight (it was close) but he still won.

That thread was mainly meant to say that he was one dimensional.

Really, outside of power, he didn't have a lot going for him. He needed a knockout, or his opponent to be scared of him, so he could coast to a decision.

I just think it is hard to be as good as people make Trinidad out to be if he can't effectively fight against boxers.

But I'm probably biased. I try not to be a hater, but Felix Trinidad is one guy that I really have a distaste for.

He did beat a good Oba Carr, an underrated boxer. He got dropped and and came back to Ko Carr.

i think vargas; mayorga; and quartey were his career defining fights so far...

a going 3 and 0 to end his career (two of which) against the likes of mayweather and cotto would change this...

if oscar could beat mayweather at this age; and so out of his prime then i'd have to say that would be a career defining fight...showing just because he's older and out of his prime doesnt mean he's still not one of the best...and beating a prime top p4p fighter (or two top p4p fighters) would defiantely prove it.

                  mayorga was a beatdown
vargas was a great ending to a good; tough; close fight
and quartey was a great showcase of the ability to comeback and not get discourged.
