    Career Defining Fight: Oscar

As the Golden Boy closes up on a great career (both as an am and pro), in your opinion, what is his "Career Defining Fight"?

I have never really been a HUGE fan of Oscar, but he is the Golden Boy. My dad put me on to him in the 92 Olympics even though I was still a kid. But IMO, I would have to say his fight with Ike Quartey. I mean it was a CLASSIC in my eyes. For some reason I wanted to see him lose, but he showed me that he was a TRUE CHAMPION! Of course he has always been good, but in my eyes, it was his STUNNING AND CLASSIC VICTORY OVER IKE that I think defines his career...had he beat Tito, I would have chosen that one though...great career Oscar de la Hoya

The Ike Quartey bout showed he was a determined fighter. i'd put that one in the mix definitely.

Every time I try to think of one, I realize that he lost it.

I watched this fight live and at the time i wish they would have made it a draw...this one definitely called for that AND a REMATCH. If I had say It would have been mandatory

That's the feeling that you get with alot of his bouts. The Whittaker fight was 113-113, imo. That's another example.

IMO the rematches that he HAD TO MAKE, but didn't fall through

                  Sweet Pea
                  Tito
                  Ike Q.

Haha... he woulda beat Pea in the rematch, sadly. Whittaker was spiraling outta control at that point with his drug habits. You can see by how his career went that the Oscar fight was his last great effort.
