He lost the first one before entering MMA.
Won the second one after he was already in MMA.
He probably had muay thai fights between, probably some MMA fights before 2000 that aren't written on his record etc.
I'm sure he didn't decided to quit boxing and go into MMA, especially in Brazil.

You probably know how did the fights in Brazil looked back then?

Silva is muay thai practicioner, not a boxer.

Boxing is just way better. Is the reason dana can't stop talking about boxing, its the only way he gets attention and he would like to put boxing down to rise his mma fights.
tru. 2 guys on da floor wrestling not entertaining...& dana is scared of puttin silva against Roy Jones cuz he knows Roy would kick his ass & make it look bad 4 da mma.

          Yep, that's true.
          I don't like Dana White.
He made a lot of good stuff for MMA in general, but he is ****ty person.

He told Floyd to come to MMA, but now he is afraid to put Silva against RJJ.
Silva has balls, Dana is the one making problems.
Why stop Silva from realizing his dream of fighting against RJJ?

          btw;
you should look what roy jones has to say about mma fighters.

          p.s.
i apologize for my bad english, i live in croatia and english isn't my natural language, so i have some problems with grammar.
          my apology.

Good post. Quick point though, the reason for the patchy records of MMA's best is nothing at all to do with chance or luck, its because there is NO money in mma at the lower levels, and when fighters are taking $500 or less per fight they cant afford to pick there opponents and build up a marquee name for themselves. Its the same in most combat sports where there is little or no money (including amatuer boxing).

Anderson Silva was also knocked out twice by Jose "Pele" Landi-Jons in Muay-Thai. That, nor his boxing loss, means that much in terms of the validity of MMA as a sport.

At this minute in time Anderson Silva is the best, or one of the best MMA fighters in the world. He’s a better MMA fighter than Pele was at his peak. The fact that he lost twice to Pele in another sport doesn’t change that. I should end that point by saying that Pele, prior getting old, was a very good MMA fighter.

thanks for openly admitting your an idiot
You have to be very careful with your grammar if you're going to call someone an idiot.

All I know about MMA is that if a round isn't over in the first minute you're in for a very long four minutes of dry humping.

But you will never never be able to take the best ufc fighter and make him into a good boxer.

Wouldn't this make him a mixed-martial artist then? So it's not a boxer who becomes a UFC champion, it's a mma fighter who becomes a UFC champion.
