    Counter punching technique?

lol he didn't throw but a total of 20 backhanded jabs the entire session. That was simply a half assed defensive exhibition.

And yeah he looks small, he's 30 pounds lighter.

i think that it's a good move for byrd to move down in weight, i was surprised that he went to light heavy though and not to cruiser weight. i do think that it's a little too late, and i also think that in order for him to be able to be competitive at the top level he's going to need to be a little more offensive in his fighting.

lately he's has gotten too defensive minded, although in the heavies thats not a bad plan, but now in the lighter weights that might bite him in the ass.

at light heavy i think byrd has a decent chance, time will tell, i'm just kind of shocked at how he looks, its like a whole different guy in the ring, i know that it's sparring and all, but his physicality is something completely different from what i've seen before with him.

i wonder what the deal is?? was heavy too much work to stay at that weight? making him too small as the heavyweights get bigger and bigger? same with cruiser?? and i know that he was a light heavy back in the day, but is that his natural weight? walking around weight? if so then i would have to say that his career seems to me to be a little more impressive if he was struggling to make and stay at a competitive weight at heavyweight.

hopefully being at light heavy will make him more active too, to me that was one of byrds biggest mistakes in his career was taking off too much time between fights, and then trying to fight top guys, when he was a feather fist at heavyweight, it is a very unorthodoxed move, but it seems reasonable.......

there are some better match ups for him to being at the lighter weight....
        best of luck to byrd.......

Just because Byrd was a better than decent heavyweight doesnt mean he'd be a good light heavyweight.

The things that made him good, speed and reflexes, wont be an advantage at 175. In fact in some cases he will probably be the slower fighter.

I'd like to see him fight Tarver at LHW. Why not, they're both southpaws. He could give Tarver fits with his head movement and counters.
