Here is where I disagree with many fans of UFC. It's common amongst UFC fans to say that boxing is hurt by the fact that there are so many different promoters and very little uniformity. Boxers supposedly want too much money and the sport suffers. Whereas UFC fighters are satisfied with their contracts and the entire sport reaps the benefits.
MMA is bigger than the UFC and when the UFC finally realizes that they're not the only game in town that's making money anymore it'll be too late. If one or two guys were leaving UFC that'd be one thing, but plenty of talented guys are fighting elsewhere and for more money than they could make in the UFC.
Everything Dana White blasts boxing for in terms of fighters getting screwed over and over controlling promoters always wanting their way; he is guilty of that stuff to at least the same extent. Randy Couture gets into the ring and fights. Mark Cuban will pay him millions. Dana White could pay him millions, but won't supposedly for "the good of the sport." That's BS. Couture-Emilienko is for the "good of the sport." But they should both get paid their fair share. It's called a fair share because it's fair. Anything else is unfair and wrong.
Boxers figured that out a long time ago. It seems like the top MMA stars are figuring that out too.
