What did ya'll think about Million Dollar Baby and Cinderella Man?Comment

Cinderella Man was borderline formulaic in how it treated the story,
but was still worth the time spent watching it. Sort of like ****, haha,
in how you already know what's going to happen, but you don't necessarily mind. It's ultimately a feel good movie, and can stand
repeat viewings.
Million Dollar Baby seems that same way for a good stretch, almost as if
Karate Kid-like in structure (a dig at the wonderful star's resumé, heh),
but is actually something else. Hope that's vague enough to not
constitute a spoiler. Not Eastwood's best work, no, ...here he's almost
channelling Mel Gibson's relentlessness, but definitely riveting.

I finally saw it this weekend. To be honest, the focal point of the movie isn't boxing. It's basically a journalism movie, about ethics and morale. It was entertaining, no doubt, but just not a boxing film per se.
To give you an idea, there's more boxing in Annapolis.
I'd still recommend this movie though.Comment

It's a good movie, I'd give it three out of four stars. The screenwriter obviously knew the sport of boxing fairly well.
Art Binkowski, Jake LaMotta (voice), and a couple of other pro boxers are in it.Comment
