    If Floyd Catches an "L"...

How much damage do you think it will do to his public persona as the #1 fighter and or will his "Mainstream" fans stick with him?

If you look what Floyd has potentially to lose, it makes sense him not taking a fight with Cotto.

Roy Jones was in Floyd's position prior to his KO and we all saw what happened to his mainstream following.

If Floyd loses his L, his marketability will be shot. That is the only thing keeping him alive. 70% of the people who tune in to see him, are only doing so in hopes that he loses.

Once you hate someone you hate him. More mainstream people pay to see him just because he is p4p number 1 and a villian.

I think it depends on how he comes back from his first loss, if he comes back at all.

I happen to think that Floyd could gain from a loss. Because it sets up an even more important rematch. This depends on who he fights, how he loses, so on and so forth. For example...

If he fought De La Hoya, and lose. It'd set up the dumbest trilogy in a while. However, that third fight would do HUGE business. HUGE. Imagine that. The first one was huge. The second would be a HUGE surprise, and he'd be considered the UNDERDOG in a big fight for the first time in a while, depending on how he lost anyway. The same could be said for Mayweather/Hatton II if that fight unfolds.

However, if he loses to an evenly sized/matched fighter, like Cotto, and he didn't get ran over or outclassed, it'd actually help him in a certain way. People would want to see him come back and the same people would want to see him lose. It'd set up a HUGE, REASONABLE trilogy and get him millions in the process. It might also force him to fight with his heart AND mind, as apposed to just his mind. It could very well bring out THE best in him. Which is scary to think about.

I doubt it destroys his credibility to the point that he can't rebound. Wishful thinking, for those who hope such a thing happens. He'd need to be MOWED over, and lose the rematch. Then, he'd have some REAL work to do.

The poll is way too clear cut, for a topic that in my mind requires a much more complex answer.

Thats odd I watch to see the amazing skills he has , if you really love boxing you cannot help but admire Mayweathers work in a boxing ring, win or lose dont even come into it , I guess people like you watch to see him lose because you dont understand boxing enough to know what your looking at .
