Doesnt the fact that hatton was fighting above his natural weight in both the collazo and mayweather fights and that cotto was fighing below his natural weight (a weight that he had to drain himself to make) count for anything? malignaggi got busted up big time by a by cotto who by that time was struggling to make light welter. Many people on this forum have stated that hatton could beat cotto at light welter so it stands to reason that hatton is gonna **** malignaggi up good style when they fight!

so Hatton goes from fighting bigger stronger men, to Malignaggi a good guy a decent boxer who won't be strong enough and can't punch.

I agree with the poster who said Hatton will just indiscrimately cut the ring off and smash him up without a second thought about what is coming back.

Cotto hits harder than Hatton, Hatton throws more, is faster in his hands and in his feet.

Add to that the obvious fact that Malignaggi, despite his reputation, isn't actually a great defensive fighter. He gets hit a lot by Ngoudjo, N'Dou not to mention Cotto. I think Hatton stops Malignaggi simply because he won't let Paulie off the hook by taking rounds off unlike a weight-drained Cotto.

Malignaggi is not slick at all I agree

Ngoudjo boxed at range and nailed him all night long. Seems that having fast hands makes you slick these days.

Paulie is a dream opponent for Hatton.

i think the reason he gets nailed sometimes is because he has a tendency to fight in a rythm where he can be timed if u watch the Ngoudjo fight he keeps getting hit with the right hand cause he is constantly cricleing to the left & McGirt had to tell him to stop moving to his left & to got o the right

i think Cotto is just a very good fighter who is superb at what he does sometimes it dont matter how good u are on the backfoot when u get someone like Cotto or Israel Vasquez who know how to shorten the range & get inside

Paulie has no power in his punches, Hatton will just walk through them.

Yea that's the same thing they said about Collazo who they considered no threat in terms of hurting Hatton since he only has 12 ko's and then he almost got blasted out in the 12th round.

I suppose you gonna tell me that the extra 7 pounds made a big difference to a man who weighs 180lbs in between fights.

Analogies don't mean **** in the ring...

Paulie could stub his toe on the way to the ring and have an of day in terms of footwork...

Maybe a little but not the biggest contributor to Hatton's poor performances at 147. In fact, him not having to drain himself to lose those extra 7 pounds to get to 140 made Ricky Hatton stronger. It's not like he has to eat his way up to welterweight. The man walks around at 170/180 lbs in betwee fights for cripe's sake. If he can't handle just one weight class above the weight he spend his entire careet at.......then maybe that tells us more about his skills then anything else.
