There were also a couple of devestating rabbit punches thrown after the bell by Benn at one point which wouldn't have helped.

That said if he'd got to hospital earlier he may have recovered much better. Look at Spencer Oliver, a similar thing happened to him, it was caught in time and hell, he was doing the commentary on BBC2 today for the Calzaghe fight.
Really i didn't know that about spencer oliver.

Oh yes, in a European title fight maybe 8-10 years ago. The guys name was Sergei Devakov if I remember rightly. Spencer had weight making issues and was boxing very much out of sorts for him, the KO in the tenth looked brutal.

Spencer had a blood clot removed..........still has the scar, life was in the balance, has made an incredible recovery.

Less lucky guys who have made recoveries of sort are Michael Watson and Paul Ingle!

I don't know. The damage may have already been done.

McClellan had been suffering frequent headaches after the first Jackson fight, so who knows? Maybe that was a sign that he was already suffering from some sort of brain damage.

Yeah, and McCllelan had lethal power but his defense was atrocious rabbit punching or not in the Benn fight.

The fact that he withstood Jackson's bombs is a credit to his toughness.

But the main wasn't a fan of defense for sure.

Benn was pissing blood for weeks after that fight.
He had to be helped out of the bath and to go to the toilet
he was ****ed pushing his body has far has it can go...

Warrior Benn was you cant be taught it you have to be born with it..

Great fighter Gerald was as well he landed some almighty blows at the start
but just started to fade has the fight wore on...
