If you want to fall in love with a boxer then go and watch some Rocky films.
Its his boxing that i dont like, his style is dreadfull, very amateur. The only thing that has carried him through in a few of his fights is his phenomenol fitness, thats just my poinion though and how i see it. He has never been a big puncher and of course slaps when trying to throw fast shots, i really never liked watching him fight but he just gets the job done, but i'd much rather prefer to watch a champion get the job done in style. Even Hopkins who isnt the most exciting to watch had that good pro style where he would break you up systematically using brilliantly placed and timed shots. Boxing aside JC seems a bit of a tit outside the ropes aswell!

How so? From where I stand Calzaghe did exactly what most of his fans said he would: beat Hopkins.

Fans who sing Calzaghe's praises as an ATG are talking about the longest reigning champ in the world, who has never been beaten. No other fans can say that about their fighter and I think Calzaghe fans have evry right to talk him up.

Considering that both Hopkins and RJJ, Calzaghe's current opposition for ATG status have lost fights to poorer opposition than themselves, there is a far more coherent argument to be made that their fans are the mugs, not Calzaghe's.

Well, we needed another well thought out Calzaghe hate thread. Hey maybe it will quickly degenerate into some ******ed name calling and nation bashing. Oh wait..

Be sensible, Peter McNeely was undefeated in 39 before Tyson. If i'd fought the mugs JC fought for7-8 years i'd be undefeated

Calzaghe was known as a KO artist with phenomenal punching power in his early career. Watch any of his early fights and you'll hear the commentators saying things like:

"We all know about Calzaghe's power, but what else can he bring to the table." etc.

If you are not a Calzaghe fan, and root for his opponents, then of course you will find him smug etc when he says he is going to win.

If you are a fan, like me, then you find his comments funny.

                Simple.

Me and my best mate said EXACTLY the same thing, he just couldnt land on hopkins, hopkins had him overthinking, setting and resetting, missing, jumping in with wide shot, countered him, stunned him, knocked him down.

Calzaghe landed about 3 good left hands the entire fight, the only thing that won him that fight was numbers of punches thrown.

Seriously now, Prime hopkins would have beaten him at ANY point in his career so would jones, and the james toney that fought Barkley at 168 pounds would have stopped calzaghe imo.

****ing hell, Micheal watson and Chris Eubank had more techinical ablity.

Not saying calzaghe aint class, he's just overrated big time.

If Calzaghe hated the English he would have made £3.50 from boxing and would have retired having been jobbed by Sven Ottke is Germany. Don't be a twat.

Calzaghe has thousands upon thousands of English fans.
Don't talk **** limey. Calzaghe would sell out his stadium of 70,000 in Wales with Welsh fans like the Kessler fight. He doesn't give a **** about the the english limies. The English limies only jumped on his **** after the Lacy fight, they need to start supporting their own fighters, jokes like Froch and Woods.

You kind of just owned yourself, the lesser the opposition the better your gonna look. the ko's have been thin on the ground the last few years
