He's too idiosyncratic for some people. No fighter ever has or ever will look quite like him in the ring, no one will ever fight exactly like he does. That turns off people who are interested in certain visual aspects of boxing.

Many dislike him because he has upset the balance of boxing power, and proved that the American/HBO merry-go-round of fighters were not the end-all be-all that some fans thought (Calzaghe's unquestionable career rank above Hopkins and other HBO stars has upset this).

Calzaghe was a big draw on Sky Sports for years before the Lacy fight. He wouldn't be a big draw if he was unpopular in England and Scotland. The population of Wales is only 3 million, as opposed to 57 million for the rest of the UK.

Joe Calzaghe is a pretty chilled non offensive character, respectful to most, gives as good as he gets, and not arrogant at all. When he's been called the best British fighter ever, he was visibly embarassed and said ah I duno about that, not for me to say. How many other boxers behave like that?

Its his boxing that i dont like, his style is dreadfull, very amateur. The only thing that has carried him through in a few of his fights is his phenomenol fitness, thats just my poinion though and how i see it. He has never been a big puncher and of course slaps when trying to throw fast shots, i really never liked watching him fight but he just gets the job done, but i'd much rather prefer to watch a champion get the job done in style. Even Hopkins who isnt the most exciting to watch had that good pro style where he would break you up systematically using brilliantly placed and timed shots. Boxing aside JC seems a bit of a tit outside the ropes aswell!

WHAAAT??? Calzaghe has got the same Ko's as Hopkins with less fights. I wouldn't go judging Calzaghes punshing power on the last 3 fights you've seen.
