Then he turns around and buys his contract out to get a big fight.
Ok. I guess that is VERY personal, prolly more than we can see. With Cotto's quiet persona, will he get the BIGGEST fights out there throughout his career?

I think his upcoming fight will be a good one for him, one of his toughest challenges if I must say so myself.

There is a lot less ego involved with Cotto. Top Rank and their matchmaker Bruce Trampler have done a great job turning him into a superstar, whereas GBP has been recycling Hopkins, DLH, Mosley and Barrera without making new stars. They've done a terrible job moving Daniel Ponce De Leon, failed to capitalize on Vasquez-Marquez the way they should have (it could have been as big as Barrera-Morales).

Cotto has been moved very well by Top Rank. They put him in with a lot of experience building opponents like Randall Bailey, Demarcus Corley and Carlos Maussa. They have progressed him all the way to the level he is at right now with an undefeated record. My guess is that Cotto will finish out his career with Arum.

Watching WNF which was promoted by Warrior's Boxing this week showed me a different kind of excellent matchmaking. Chico Rivas, who does the matchmaking for Warrior's, made an excellent matchup with Vilches and Urango. Urango is a limited guy, but they found a somewhat credible guy on the downslide and got him blasted on national TV. That makes headlines. KOs like that one make noise.

Thats very true. Not to mention the overrall quality of Top Rank shows are better than Golden Boys shows.

They've done fine for him so far. He's been brought along at a good pace in terms of goin from a prospect to a contender to a champ and now to a star.

that was going to be my exact response! Golden Boy Promotion is just a company full of old named superstars on their way out.
