    Mayweather must fight Cotto.
when cotto wins the other betls oin HBO and proves he is the number 1 chgallenger then the fight will get made until then beating gomez and having the lowest ratings on WCB history is not goint to get it done.. you feel me

edit: Please note this is nothing like Margarito-Mayweather. Margarito was unproven/unworthy competition wise (he hadn't beaten anyone minus Cintron. Not even Joshua Clottey yet) and was not the number 1 challenger. Mayweather was...against Baldomir. Mayweather also had a better bout against De La Hoya ahead of him.
floyd has a better and bigger money fight in the form of ricky hatton in england. would you pass up a chance to make 45 million as compared to 10 million. cus roight now a cotto fight cannot copmapre to a hatton remnatch in london

Mayweather has no one other then De La Hoya again (which I don't agree with, but it can be justified somewhat). Mayweather Cotto would still do 900,000 atleast, imo.
wrong he has hatton again. and cotto is not a draw he would not do 900,000 buys with floyd without cotto becoming more of a household name and personality. right now floyd vs cotto does around 600,000 buys max

      I agree that it could.

This wasn't mean to knock a Cotto-Mayweather fight but just to say that the low ratings cannot be excused. Floyd is the bigger PPV attraction (see post # 67 for details) for those who are willing to argue against that.

To think that a Espn's The Contender fighter would help get more viewers. To think that Cotto had momentum coming off of two high profile PPV fights.

Did Gatti-Gomez do this bad on HBO?

Probably not, but that's because they had two other great fights on that.

You are right though, Mayweather is definietly a bigger attraction then Cotto. Does anyone seriously argue that?

To think that a Margarito-Cintron fight would have helped to at least not make it one of the worst ratings of a FREE HBO CARD ever. Couldn't be that all those fans were more interested in the Showtime card more then they were in Margarito and Cotto.

And yes, there is quite a few that would argue that Cotto is the bigger attraction with comments like "He has more fans", "He is more exciting" etc,.

I don't buy the showtime excuse either. Not as many people have Showtime as HBO and on ESPN.com Cotto/Gomez outvoted Tarver/Woods on which one they were going to watch like 174-20.

Only thing I could think of is those commericals Tarver/Woods got, but still.

Sergei Lyakovich vs Shannon Briggs was a alternative option on showtime during the Mayweather/Baldomir PPV. Just something to consider.

why are you looking for excuses for mayweather to duck cotto?? are you yourself so cowardly that you dont want to see your hero fight the best because he will lose??

Mayweather-Baldomir had a Countdown show, which generates a lot of interest.

Cotto-Gomez went up against Showtime's Dawson-Johnson and Tarver-Woods. A more balanced, spin-free assessment would have mentioned that.
oK, You get on my nerves but that was funny.
