I respect Calzaghe but the man needs to stop saying he has speed. Dont get me wrong, the man throws somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 punches per fight but that doesn't mean your fast. Leonard was fast. I honestly don't believe Joe has speed, he says he does but I honestly don't believe he does.

A very large majority of all commentators, journalists, those within boxing, boxing fans say, compu boxes, stats, clearly say Joe Calzaghe is fast, Joe Calzaghe has speed.

These are all un deniable sources to such an extent, it leaves one perplexed about what you actually mean.

To be hitting 100 times in a round, 1000 times over a fight, and many lets not forget, flurries of many punches in a small amount of time, compared with many other boxes, that is in itself, speed.

He's even punched as many times as he could within a minute and things, it's on youtube, they were quick fast punches, to enable to throw a follow up punch very soon after, so this in essence is quick, fast, speed.

So what are you arguing with, its not clear?

calzaghe does have snap when he punches (see 1min 8 secs of the video above for one small example), but he rarly punches. im one of calzaghes biggest fans and i thnk its a crying shame that its taken so long for him to get the credit that he deserves.

calzaghe does slap there is no getting away from it but he has very, very brittle hands and yet still manages to overwhelm his opponents with swarms of punches, flurries and angles. Now calzaghes hands have been one of the reasons why hes taken more time off to recover - you could argue its benefitted him in the long run but im sure joe would have preferred having a few more fights when he was in his prime.

anyway im going off topic - in terms of one punch speed joe is no mayweather or leanoard but those fighters wee both smaller than thm. joe is still faster than any other super middleweight of his time and with the exception of jones i cant think of another fighter with as good one punch speed.

joe though throws his ounches in bunches which means its a bit harder to see how quick he really is - all his opponesnts seem to say that he is quicker than they expectedh him to be.

joe is no slouch when it comes to speed but hes no leonard/robinson/mayweather in fact hes prbably more comparable to oscar de la hoya.
