Frank Bruno was out-jabbing and out-boxing, and Ray Mercer beat him. Oliver McCall knocked him out. Hasim Rahman knocked him out. Holyfield was 10 years past his best, Tyson was 15-16 years past his best. I mean come on.
All of that is very true, but Lewis was still a good boxer.
As I said, for me, London-born Joe Calzaghe just edges it as he has been a World Champion for well over a decade and has beaten the likes of Kessler, Eubank, B-Hop, Reid and Lacy etc. etc.
As much as I love Lewis I am not sure that a Brit who had so many losses during his prime should be thought of as number 1.
calzaghe. superior race for one. undefeated for another. i wont let my lips near lewis' anything. id bury my face in joe
Has anybody else, tripped off the Bull-$h!T this Fa@@oT Said!
BTW, It's Lewis! Calzaghe is very good (maybe great?) but IMO Lennox faced tougher test & when he was K.O.ed he came back and returned the favor to his opponents! I always liked Lewis, even when everyone in the states thought he was soft & gay b/c instead of throwing "bombs" every punch, he used his intellegence & set his opponents up with his long jab & finished them with the right...The Mercer fight showed he had heart!
