Having thought a little more about this, I am not so sure about the bold part. What I saw was Joe taking away Bernard's best weapon (no, not his head!) by timing it and sliding past it. It was exactly the same story in the Kessler fight (round 6 onwards -- it's like Joe switches in his turbo).

Joe has had a number of fights where he was hit frequently with huge right hand bombs. The Rob Reid fight comes instantly to mind. I think Calzaghe worked on the problem after that fight, and nowadays he adapts after a few rounds and is able to nullify it. Even if he can't nullify it, he will eat it anyway. Ridiculous chin. Surely, no one can deny his chin is beyond granite!

In an unprecedented move, with Nevada now allowing gloves in different weights with their decision today to allow the go ahead of Cotto vs. Margarito fight, Team Calzaghe contacted them with a request to use Gloves more suited to Joe's style. Their decision is pending and awaiting vote.

Why? People still recognized Hopkins as the champion at 175. He doesn't need an alphabet title when he's got the ring. Especially the WBA.

I think Jones has a pretty good chance of winning a fight against Calzaghe. He still has very fast hands and Calzaghe is still open to right hands, which is one of Jones' best punches.

But I don't know if Jones has the legs to keep the fight at center ring because if he goes back to the ropes, Calzaghe would out work him to a decision.

Nah Bernard just could not keep pace. Joe won that fight on athleticism. It is still a win though and is just as much part of the game as anything else. It is not taking anything away from Joe at all.

I think much of it depends on how much he can hurt Joe. If he can hurt joe with his power, he will not have a hard night.

I will isagree with yo uon thepart about bernard tiring... he really did tire... you could tell, especially the couple times that bernard kind of "walked away" from joe in the ring but still looking at him, you could tell it was fatigue, and his punches didnt have the same speed or pop... and he was throwing on eright hand and clinching near the end of the fight...

I seriously believe jones can throw punches for 12 rounds, not losing and speed or power whatsoever..

Oh, without a doubt Bernard was tired, that's why he needed 3 minutes off with the fake low blow, but if he hadn't become tired I feel it would have been the same result, just like it was with Kessler, with Calzaghe adapting and taking away that right hand about 5 rounds in.

                      Anyway... just some thoughts.
