You come in and throw a little flurry, all the sudden you get a straight right to the face faster than youve ever been hit before.... your work rate starts to slow down... joe might have a great chin.. but one can only take so many straight right hands to the face... especially when you dont always see them coming... all the sudden... your not throwing as many punches as you used too..

Joe has a great work rate... why? because hes always been faster than his opponents... he can come in, throw his hands... and get out.. and beat u all night to the punch... with roy... even this roy... the battlefield is a little more levelled...
Yeah I guess. I dunno, I'm just not happy with how much Roy lets his opponents throw since the Ruiz fight. I can just see Joe throwing a ****load of punches, mostly fairly ineffective ones, and outworking Roy to a decision. It just doesn't seem that Roy throws as much or as effectively as he used to. I know he doesn't need to fight at the level that prime Roy fought at to win, I am just worried he will get outworked to a scrappy decision.

well... that is the obvious problem... but hat im saying is... roys offense will slow that work rate down... joe will be double thinking a lot more than hes used too... i think even more than bernard... i think roy can hurt you quicker and easier than bernard..

matter fact i hope joe flurries his little head off... flurry away joe... i hope he does to be honest..

What type of fight do you think Roy will pursue? He is obviously a lot more stationary than he used to be. Will he fight a great deal on the ropes? If his plan is to stick to the ropes a lot and counter out of Joe's flurries with straight rights and sharp left hooks then I really hope they don't fight over in the UK, cos he has no chance of getting a decision over there if he fights that type of fight.

I posted in a simlar forum topic about recently but ill just kinda re-say what i said. I see Roy controlling the fight with his jab cross combo. When i watched Cal vs B-hop i couldnt help but notice all of those straights that old man hops was landing almost at will. Roy has the speed and power edge in my opinion between Cals and Jones so im leaning more towards Roy for this fight.

Joe is in for a big surprise. Hopefully the judges don't give to much creedence to Calzaghes weak half punches and workrate. I hope he gets his neck snapped back and brutally knocked out.

Hey do you have any friends who like Joe Calzaghe?? My two friends who actually follow boxing hate him. They think he's way overrated. We had about ten guys over for the JC Hopkins fight, the rest of the night we all got hammered and everyone kept playfighting using JC's windmill forearm punching technique. I wouldn't mind Joe if he wasn't so high on himself, babying his undefeated record in the toddler league. RJJ isn't my favorite fighter, but for the next few months he will be all that is on my mind.

Love or hate Joe there is one thing you cannot argue against - he is effective. I don't particularly enjoy watching him fight but anyone who can beat Kessler as well as he did is a very effective fighter. Also, he beat Bernard. Even at 43 Hopkins is still one tought ****er to get the better of.

He's a very good boxer that's it. Because Britain has no athletes except soccer players/cricket players they blow his ****. He looked like dog**** against Hopkins, and if Hopkins had a quarter of an offence and wasn't gassed he would've one. I can't wait to see Roy hit Joe flush in the face it makes me cream my pants thinking of it.

Very nice post man. You make some awesome points. Just reading your post alone makes me think Roy has a better chance at pulling off the upset.

Yeah I dunno man. I hope you are right but I really don't think it is going to be an easy night for Roy. Just keep in mind that this is not anything like prime ROy and try not to get your hopes up too high.
